Is it expensive to get a double exhaust on an 2003 audi a4?

iam thinking of buying a audi a4,but they sem expensive with the quattro kit,i was thinking of buying a standard audi and putting kit on myself. Is it expensive to get a double exhaust on an 2003 audi a4?whatever you do,dunnae have a powerflow made.........

buy a proper brand..........

and dunnae de value car with a tacky kit man....enjoyIs it expensive to get a double exhaust on an 2003 audi a4?Is it just me or does this question not make much sense? A 2003 A4 will come w/dual exhaust from the factory. if you're looking to upgrade the stock, then yes it isn't exactly cheap, but worth it....you'd be going from 1 3/4" to 2 1/2" which will free up a lot of airflow for the turbo and give you a lot more torque. Milltek makes a great aftermarket exhaust, the kit alone is about 1200. and weighs about 25 lbs less than the stock....i have it on mine, and it sounds fantastic....no droning, great bass tone....Is it expensive to get a double exhaust on an 2003 audi a4?If you want to waste fuel unnecessarily hauling a load of dead-weight about, what does that say about you? Remember Colin Chapmans' ethos? (the founder of Lotus) was "Simplify, and Add Lightness". Every kilo you can save will not need to be accellerated, got around a corner, and braked to a stop. I am stripping an Alfa Romeo to use on the track, and my exhaust will finish in front of the rear wheel, side-exit, saving me 15 kilos of heavy-metal!Is it expensive to get a double exhaust on an 2003 audi a4?
very. Do a google search on your local scrap yards.

Or what look should i go for? What rims should i get for my audi?than you need to get a pair of colored rims http://www.rimslegend.comWhat rims should i get for my audi?Check out tirerack.com and see what they have available for you. You can even see what the rims they offer look like on your car. I attached a link at the bottom for you. If you are going to lower the car, make sure you buy a camber/caster adjustment kit for your car as well so that your suspension will have added adjustability to compensate for the change in geometry otherwise you will be eating up tires like crazy.

I just purchased a used 1998 Audi A4 and there are tabs in front of the headlights mounted on the front bumper that raised up during my drive home from the dealership and have not gone back down. I'm Looking for a manual online that would show how to rebuild it.Does anybody know were i can find an online manual for this audi transmission? No chance. Take it to a reputable tranmission shop that knows how to do foreign car trannies. Unless you have all the tools and proper jigs, there is no way to debug these things and rebuild them right. Even the Bentley manual says "get new tranmission" when doing anything other than changing the filters, seals or setting the shift trips.

hi , i hav a audi a3 1.8t sport 1998, last week i replaced the battery with a new one from halfords and was ok til i did 10mile then the battery light came on and has say on!! i was driving the day and the light is still on and them the ABS light is now on and a big warning light (!) has came on. can any one tell me why this is? And what i must do to fit it. many thanks. Why does my battery light stay on all the time in my audi a3?well it might need to be reset is all but have you had the charging syystem check... only real way of knowing if you needed a battery or alternator ... belt might be loose ...it check... go auto zone have it scan they will help you out

What could be wrong if my audi starts trembling and shaking and the check engine light is blinking?

my car is an audi a4 1.8 turbo 2002 and today it started shaking very badly and the check engine light started blinking? the car has 78k miles and on thursday the time belt was changed and the water pump too. What could be wrong if my audi starts trembling and shaking and the check engine light is blinking?Have it towed ASAP- most likely a blinking engine light (do not drive) indicates a misfire which can be caused by several things including, failed spark plugs, failed fuel injectors (very likely cause) failed turbos (very likely as turbos on 1.8 litre Audis fail at about 80k miles) oil seapage into cylinder and slipping timing belt. Honestly, 80k miles is a lot for an Audi 1.8 turbo. I would look into selling this vehicle soon as many things are soon to fail on this vehicle and being an Audi, it will be very expensive to repair. What could be wrong if my audi starts trembling and shaking and the check engine light is blinking?
The shaking could be a transmission or an engine problem, and because the check engine light is blinking and because there is always a backup for that, I'm guessing the engine is damaged. It could be that road debris got in, which caused the shaking, or your springs are damaged (though this almost never happens). Nevertheless, go to the dealership and ask about it, or consult your manual for more help. What could be wrong if my audi starts trembling and shaking and the check engine light is blinking?Blinking normally means it's missfiring. (That's the horrible shaking that you're feeling.)

Let's not jump the gun and blame the shop that did the timing belt. It may be related...it may be not.

Do not drive the vehicle; TOW it in. Hopefully the shop that did your timing belt is an Audi specialist. Have them scan for fault codes and go from there. What could be wrong if my audi starts trembling and shaking and the check engine light is blinking?
It has to do with the repair you just had done. DO NOT let them say it is some random event. The timing is off.

Read your manual. The blinking light may mean Do Not Drive. If so do not drive it. Have the repair shop send over a flatbed tow truck to pick it up.What could be wrong if my audi starts trembling and shaking and the check engine light is blinking? Most likely a severe misfire hopefully its just due to the ignition system which might consist of replacing the plugs and at the high end an ignition coil... hopefully thats it it could still be loss of compression or lack of air or fuel so have someone see what kind of code it has then repost a question or update this oneWhat could be wrong if my audi starts trembling and shaking and the check engine light is blinking?
The light is coming on because the knock sensor is out of range at the least.

Belt was changed? At a dealer? Have it TOWED to the nearest dealer and make sure the belt didn't slip. If it did the job was botched and a new tensioner was never installed. This 4cyl requires it with a new belt.
I suggest looking into the ICM (ignition control module), the 1.8t is notorious for ICM failure. You can cause some serious catalytic converter damage with a severe misfire like that. There's a testing procedure with the use of a Digital meter on the web if you do a search for it. Also, you can get the HUCO brand replacement for it for half the price of Bosch.

1993 audi 100-5amp fuse for dashboard burns out right away after installing?

Dashboard has no lights. Any clues on which fuse might be shorting? Anyone expereinced something similar? Are there any other sites where I can ask questions to audi owners? ThANKS.1993 audi 100-5amp fuse for dashboard burns out right away after installing? You obviously have a powered wire grounding somewhere either through relay, connector or chaffed wire. Sorry there are no shortcuts for a problem like this.1993 audi 100-5amp fuse for dashboard burns out right away after installing?Mabe u need to trace the wires because it sounds like something is touching.1993 audi 100-5amp fuse for dashboard burns out right away after installing? There is a short some where.

If you installed anything in the dash, check out what you did.

If there is an aftermarket sound system installed recheck all the wiring. Some thing is drawing current that exceeds the fuse rating. If you just put a bigger fuse in you might develop a fire.

Wiring problems are hard to find. It could be some one has put a pin through a wire to cause a short, or a wire has frayed. But most likely there has been something wired into the wrong place for non-factory equipment.

Thanks!Does the normal warranty for the Audi TT cover tires?tires are not part of any warranty item.. just like brake pads, windshield wipers, gas, or oil. you use em you lose emDoes the normal warranty for the Audi TT cover tires? No they are not if you got 50,000 miles out of a set of front tyres you are very fortunate.Does the normal warranty for the Audi TT cover tires?Tires do not form part of the warranty items as it depends on the driver's usage of car, e.g hard braking, sudden acceleration etc.

How do I bypass the brake pad wear sensor on my audi?

I have replaced the front pads on my Audi 80 with non genuine pads, the brake warning light continues to flash as there isn't a wear bar/wire in the pads I fitted and so the system assumes that it is broken and the light on the dash flashes continuously. Is there a way to fool the system so that the warning light stops flashing? How do I bypass the brake pad wear sensor on my audi?I recommend that you NOT by-pass or otherwise defeat the sensors for a couple of reasons. Safety and legal liability. A real oily lawyer could make a case for "depraved indifference" should you be involved in a collision if it were known that you defeated the wear indicators.

Best to go to the dealer and order the sensors and insert them on the new pads. They aren't that much, and it won't take that long to install them.

Good LuckHow do I bypass the brake pad wear sensor on my audi?i own a repair shop, and there is no way to b pass it without pulling the fuse for it,,it does have a fuse that protects the system, and if you can find the fuse you can pull it out ant it will stop it,but it may be the same fuse as the anti lock brake fuse,,and if it don't pull it out,,you,ll have bad brakes if you do,,good luck,i hope this help,s.How do I bypass the brake pad wear sensor on my audi?I am somewhat surprised.

I have a 2000 BMW 323i and the brake pad wear sensors are simply fitted into slots on the replacement pads. If either of the original two sensors (1 front, 1 rear) are worn from the previous set of pads, then you replace the sensor with a new one.

The pad sensors are individual wire assemblies about 18" long, which plug into a cable running back to the main wiring harness.

Check with your Audi dealer - perhaps you can buy replacement brake sensors and fit them into your pads.

Good luck. How do I bypass the brake pad wear sensor on my audi?
I am confident that on the Audi, you can simply short the two wires on the sensor connector, that is the car-side of the connector that normally turns 90 degrees to lock onto the connector on sensor equipped pads. This should disable the light: of course there will be no early warning of brake wear. Loud metallic squeeling would be a last warning of imminent brake pad to brake disc contact. Some Ford vehicles actually use a resistance element that wears - they detect the change in resistance. On these cars, shorting the wires will not work.

Can I put brembo brake pads in standard audi calipers?

Obviously i dont want to buy pads that dont fit. Any help please! Can I put brembo brake pads in standard audi calipers?Yes - the Brembos will fit... but why do you specifically want the Brembos? There are various brands of brake pads that work well with the A4 - and may be cheaper than the Brembos. Some that I've had experience with: Hawk, Porterfield, Padgid, EBC.Can I put brembo brake pads in standard audi calipers?
I'm not sure if Brembo makes oem size brake pads. I'd use Wagner thermo quiet ceramic pads and don't forget to replace the rotors or you will get brake fade which is probably why you are asking about the Brembo's in the first place. The Wherever rotors at Advance Auto work well and I have had no warpage issues in any of the numerous brake jobs I have done for my customers. Can I put brembo brake pads in standard audi calipers? If your in UK you can buy Brembo discs quite cheaply at GSF (German,Swedish and French) I have just fitted the same to my Golf. pagid are as good as any , you do not necessarily want brembo for road use as they can be a hard pad that needs to be warmed up before they perform 100% a softer road pad would be better, do not skim the rotors it can mess up the ABSCan I put brembo brake pads in standard audi calipers?Brembo doesn't make oem caliper brake pads for non brembo calipers. So if the car shipped with brembo brakes (which it didn't) then you can buy pads for that car from brembo. Not that brembo pads are any better than ebc or hawk.

Since its a German car is it a good idea to get the transmission covered, or is it just a waste of money?Should i get a power train warranty on an 08 Audi A4 with 57k miles on it?German cars are reliable enough not to pay for warranty, but it also depends on its driver. How much does the Audi a5 maintenance cost per year? Is it affordable?

This question is for audi owners onlyHow much does the Audi a5 maintenance cost per year? Is it affordable?Every service interval is different. The big ones are extremely expensive, usually around 6-700 (labor is about 3 hours). The smaller ones can run you about 150. You can check your maintenance manual in the owners manual packet that you got with the car for an in depth checklist on exactly what they are replacing. If you havent bought the car yet, then certainly look into purchasing the maintenance plan that Audi sells. Also talk to the service manager at the dealer you plan on servicing your car at (as every dealerships cost is different). I believe you can purchase it after the fact too. Call your nearest Audi dealer for details. How much does the Audi a5 maintenance cost per year? Is it affordable?Certainly affordable,

Fuel efficiency is moderate but definitely worth the explosive torque that you get out of this car.

As far as general maintenance is concerned, i wouldn't say it was any different to all other cars on the market. Just be careful with it :)How much does the Audi a5 maintenance cost per year? Is it affordable?if you can comfortably afford to buy it you will be able to afford the services and so on.How much does the Audi a5 maintenance cost per year? Is it affordable?
depends most cars come with warranty and its free.but its usually goes around 500 to 600 not including labor.

  • Can anyone besides an Audi dealer repair the dash pixel problem?

2001 Audi a4 Quattro has the typical dead pixels in the center of the dash info. display. It sometimes beeps 3 times while driving and I can't read what the problem is. The car seems to run fine, but I'm worried that by driving it, I may end up stranded along the road if the car decides to STOP on it's own. I'd love to have this problem repaired without having to take out a loan! Any suggestions? Thanks! Can anyone besides an Audi dealer repair the dash pixel problem?i have an 01 audi a4 1.8t, and i have the exact same problem. dont worry about it though, the center led is just cosmetic. if there were something wrong with the car, it would show it in the mph gauge or rpm gauge. the center led shows things like temp, mpg, etc. you dont need to worry about the car breaking down, it will not show you just in the center led.

id say leave it, its not worth paying the hundreds of dollars audi will charge. at least thats what im going to do.Can anyone besides an Audi dealer repair the dash pixel problem?Yes, these guys right here have a good reputation.

    What is faster a 2008 G37 or a 2004 audi S4?

What car is faster From a Dig and a roll Just curious because im debating on what car to get. The audi S4 is cheaper. What is faster a 2008 G37 or a 2004 audi S4?Hm well think of it this way, for an extra 500 dollars you can chip the s4 and get upwards of 50 HP and 50 ft/lb of torque. Stock vs stock I would say the infiniti has the edge, but if youre looking to modify at all the s4 has way more potential. What is faster a 2008 G37 or a 2004 audi S4?
the audi has 344bhp stock!!! so who ever said 200ish is dumb. the audi has awd and looks good too, also cheaper to insure as it has 4 doors, its a 4.2L v8, chiped you can make close to 400awhp. look up the specs. it will come down to you for what you want. but if you want power and somthing classy go AUDI all the way. oh and the S4 does 0- 60 mph in 5 sec flat( depending on driver)What is faster a 2008 G37 or a 2004 audi S4?The new infiniti g37 im sure can haul some ***!! But that audi has the same capabilities. Also, the audi might be faster if its quattro from its road-gripping all-wheel drive. But to be honest, test them both and give them some gas. Your the only one who can decide that. So its really completely up to you. I just would recommend you doing a test drive instead of taking answers from people who most likely dont know what there talking about, lol. Good luck with them and i really hope this helps. :-DWhat is faster a 2008 G37 or a 2004 audi S4?
the s4 is a nice car but its not very quick, 200ish bhp and its pretty heavy

you cant go wrong with the infiniti

and its very good lookingWhat is faster a 2008 G37 or a 2004 audi S4?look at spec sheet

What is the plus and minus signs on the Audi TT's shifter for?

Well yeah there is a plus and minus sign on the shifter of my Audi TT. What the hell is it for. What is the plus and minus signs on the Audi TT's shifter for? This means your TT is tiptronic so you can keep it on D: drive and use it like it's Automatic

or shift to the right and use the plus or minus to use it like it's Manual

when you shift to the right: you move the shifter once up to the + sign to move one gear up (from 2 to 3, less RPM) and twice for two gears up (from 2 to 4) ... etc

and the same for the minus sign %26gt; more RPM, down gears.

on the screen, in front of the driver (behind the steering wheel) you could read, it's indicated, on which gear you are, and thus you change according to the slope or the speed you want ..

you can always drive it as automatic on the D: drive, but it's better to try to change gears, and more amusing/ driving wise.

i hope it's helpful :) good luck.. drive safelyWhat is the plus and minus signs on the Audi TT's shifter for? That's for the sport-shift mode, which allows more manual control over the transmission. When you put the shifter in that mode, pressing the plus will shift up a gear, and pressing the minus will shift down a gear. What is the plus and minus signs on the Audi TT's shifter for?If your TT has a dual-transmission, then it is for shifting gears like a manual transmission. What is the plus and minus signs on the Audi TT's shifter for?
Well if it's like my shifter it's to gear up or down out of Drive.

Where do you refill the refrigerant on a 92 Audi?

Its a 1992 Audi 100 CS. When the A/C is on full, the car does not cool down. The refrigerant type is written under the hood "R134a" so we got that but we can't find where you put it in! Does anyone have a diagram or can someone explain it please? Thanks in advance!Where do you refill the refrigerant on a 92 Audi?Refrigerant DOESN'T get "used up" because the AC is a closed system. If you need refrigerant, you have a leak and you haven't found the leak and repaired it so adding refrigerant is not really the answer.

BTW, doesn't it tell you that YOU shouldn't be doing anything with the AC if you can't even find the proper port.Where do you refill the refrigerant on a 92 Audi? You don't. You pay someone who already has the charging equipment to do it for you, silly goose!

ac systems leak, its a fact of life. the leak is just slow enough that it passes the regulations. you should head into a shop and have them pull out what is in there and clean that up and then refill it with the correct amount. i can not go into the locations for the high and low side adapters.

  • Is the Audi Q7 built on the same chassis as the Porsche Cayenne and VW Touareg?

I know that the Cayenne and the Touarge we built as a joint project, and the Q7 looks very similar and is made by Audi which is part of the VW compony. Is the Audi Q7 built on the same chassis as the Porsche Cayenne and VW Touareg? And they all came from one happy company called Auto Union. I would not buy the Porsche Cayenne, the Audi is pretty much on the middle. So the best bang for your dollars is the VW Touareg. Is the same technology with the same quality. Selection of engines, ride characteristics, stile features and comfort creatures depends on how much are you willing to pay or how much of an image you want to show. Is like Toyota, Nissan and Honda with their high end cars. An up scale of the lower ones sold at higher price. For those that want to show off wealth. Is the Audi Q7 built on the same chassis as the Porsche Cayenne and VW Touareg?Yes. Audi is a VW brand and Porsche owns a pretty large part of VW.Is the Audi Q7 built on the same chassis as the Porsche Cayenne and VW Touareg?VAG is the company which owns VW, Audi, Skoda, Seat

Porsche own a large percentage of VAG

Yes i they are built on the same chassis although i expect slightly modified.

see: The Q7, Touareg and Porsche Cayenne, also on a version of the same platform, all share a number of basic components, but the Q7 is the longest car of the three with the most interior space, and it also has a different four-wheel drive system. Whereas the Touareg and Cayenne have full-time four-wheel drive with a low-ratio gear set and lockable differentials, the Q7 has Audi's quattro system as in its conventional road cars. This does give full-time four-wheel drive as well, with a 40:60 torque-split to the front:rear axles under normal driving conditions, but there are no low-ratio gears; instead, it uses an auto-locking torque-sensing centre differential to send up to 65percent of power to the front or up to 85percent to the rear if one of the wheels starts to slip. It's a system designed more for sporty on-road driving than hardcore mud-plugging, though it's going to be more than capable of coping with most conditions: pulling a boat/pony trailer or reaching the ski resort, no problem. Is the Audi Q7 built on the same chassis as the Porsche Cayenne and VW Touareg?
Yes it does share the same chassis, but thats all. The Engine, transmission, suspension, and AWD system is made by Audi.

VW owns Audi, and Porsche owns about 50% of VW and they can control them since they own most of VW.

Porsche and VW were designed and started by the same man. Ferdinand Porsche-He made the VW Beetle and Porsche 356. These two cars are the firsts from VW and Porsche.

The Cayenne was made a year after the VW Toureg. They also only share the chassis. Porsche used there own engine and suspension and parts.

Can you improve the power of a standard AUDI A3 1997?

Bought myself an Rplate audi a3, had the engine reconditioned and other various parts added, but it still seems a little slowish and powerless, it is a 1.6 standard petrol engine, is there anyway i can improve the power? Can you improve the power of a standard AUDI A3 1997?There's not much you can do that'll be worth the expense. A sports exhaust, ECU remap and a K%26amp;N air filter might find you another 20bhp, but it'll cost 拢500-odd.

The 1.6 really isn't up to pulling the A3 which is quite a heavy car for its size, even the 1.8 turbo isn't that quick.

If you desperately want more power, you'd be much better off buying another car. Your A3 with a reconditioned engine should be worth a fair bit, I'd swap it for something like a Seat Leon Cupra which is similar to the Audi but has the 180bhp motor from the TT. It's quite quick!!Can you improve the power of a standard AUDI A3 1997?http://www.tt-forum.co.uk/

Have a little wander round that forum - some brilliant Audi techies post in there! Can you improve the power of a standard AUDI A3 1997?shame you could have had the 1.8 crankshaft put in when it was reconditioned or even fitted a 2litre engine for much better performance

Which is faster, a lincoln LS with a V6 or an Audi a4 with a 4 cylinder?

Two of my friends ara having a little dispute. One thinks that a lincoln LS with a V6 is faster than an audi a4 while the other thinks the exact opposite, the audi is faster then the lincoln. Which one is truly faster?Which is faster, a lincoln LS with a V6 or an Audi a4 with a 4 cylinder? Two car uses different technology.

I think on a speed track Audi will out perform Lincoln.

Lincoln is an wide body long big car compare to Audi Q4.

Lincoln is designed for good smooth comfortable ride at the expanse of "High Performance".

This is why it has bigger engine it weighs more, gives comfortable ride and is less noisy inside, more sound insulation.

    LS stands for Luxury Sedan.

Q4 is a performance car it can be 4 wheel full time and Q4 has I believe, full four wheel steering capacity. This gives it more agility in small radius turns. Weight is the main thing here, it weighs less, so there is lot more spare power so it can go fast as needed, it does not top out.

Q stands for Quartro or Quart, it means 4. Q4, means 4-4 simply 4 wheel powered drive and 4 wheel steering.Which is faster, a lincoln LS with a V6 or an Audi a4 with a 4 cylinder? The Lincoln has about 210 HP and the Audi A4 has about 148 HP so the Lincoln would win easily assuming there both stock.Which is faster, a lincoln LS with a V6 or an Audi a4 with a 4 cylinder?I have an Audi A4 (2000) with about 150 HP. My brother in law has a lincoln.

Both are slow cars. The Audi 0-60 is something like 8 seconds. Not in the sports car circle at all. The Lincols has more HP but it weight tons more.

But the question is unclear. Some peole say FAST to mean highest top speed. So far a while in the 80's the fastest car in America was a Caddie even though it accelerated really slowly.

But other people mean fast as in "quick acceleration".

So you really have to clarify your question.

    Good Luck

What are some good ways to make an audi a4 faster ?

Its a 2003 audi a4 quattro V6 3.0L (automatic w/ tiptronic), can u add new air intake and exhuast to it ? and is it possible to add a turbo to it ?

What are some good ways / things to add to it to make it faster and wut brands , thnkxWhat are some good ways to make an audi a4 faster ?well intake and exhaust with the pes supercharger is about the best you are going to do but the pes supercharger is about 5300 before installation a good exhaust system will easily run 1500 before installation intake a few hundred then anouther few thousand for installation of all of this and you are looking at around $10,000+ i would consider selling the A4 and putting that $10K towards an S4 i think in the end you get the most that way upgraded suspension etc. The S4 gives you the whole package handling and speed and i like the interior better too. What are some good ways to make an audi a4 faster ?
Trade it in for a BMW 335 or an M3. That'll make you faster. What are some good ways to make an audi a4 faster ?there is a company called PES that makes a supercharger for he 30v a4 that adds about 85hp ... turbos are hard to fit (manifolds) on a a4 ..unless you swap a s4 engine into your vehicle which is pretty much the same engine but twin turbo charged .. and the swap is going to be pricey ...What are some good ways to make an audi a4 faster ?
Everything is possible, given enough money.

I've driven an A4 and I seem to think they are pretty zippy as is. What are you planning to do in it? Shift through the lower gears while driving (e.g. put it into the lowest possible gear while stopped and shift up while accelerating). What are some good ways to make an audi a4 faster ?bluegti - the S4 engine for this model year is a V8. the bi-turbocharged V6's were for the previous gen.

if you wanted an audi easy to modify, the 1.8t would have been a better choice. there's not a whole lot out there for the 3.0 V6. but yeah, check out the supercharger, slap an exhaust on and be happy with that. What are some good ways to make an audi a4 faster ?
    there are 2 ways,

    1) reduce weight of your car

    2) add more power (supercharge it)
I agree with mbar3. Invest in the S4. They're much faster. My brother has one and his has over 420hp. Granted, he added some (of course) but it's hella fast. Let me tell you, it puts you in your seat. Custom blue. Nice car.

Making it faster will cost you big bucks no matter what. Go to your local, trustworthy mechanic and ask them what they suggest.

What does it mean when my service light comes on in my 2000 Audi A4?

well i just recently purchased an 2000 audi A4.. (today) and well my service light came on said i need to get it serviced.. what dose this mean dose it mean i have to get an oil change or take it to the European shop to get it looked at? could it be a big problem? well thanx for the help! :)What does it mean when my service light comes on in my 2000 Audi A4?One of two answers for you. If is says service required it may need an oil change or it wasn't reset after the last one. It is just an warning light and no cause for concern. It comes on when you need an oil change, but don't rely on it to remind you. count your mileage instead. Most dealerships will turn it off free of charge and it takes less than a minute to do so. If it is a picture of an engine then it has registered a code into the memory and should be looked at it may or may not be serious. Check you owner's manual if you have one for the explanation. If not sure call the local Audi dealership and inquire. What does it mean when my service light comes on in my 2000 Audi A4?
you need to take it and have it service, it needs some more JUMAICAN RUM,,What does it mean when my service light comes on in my 2000 Audi A4?It means you should've chose a different car.

OoiOoiO....Auto Zone and their little computer only test the alternator and battery, it can't tell you why a light is coming on. They can't diagnos anything.
go to any Auto Zone and they will hook it up to their computer and diagnose it free. What does it mean when my service light comes on in my 2000 Audi A4?usually has to do with emissions.......no big deal. What does it mean when my service light comes on in my 2000 Audi A4?
need to change the air in the trunk.

or the air filter, quick easy and cheap. if that don"t do it time to pay someone to hook up the analyzer.
It needs to be serviced. Hook it up with a female Audi and leave them alone for a few hours. What does it mean when my service light comes on in my 2000 Audi A4?
Could be an emission sensor check out one of the large auto parts places like Auto Zone they have a device that can diagnose the problem. They don't do it for all cars so call first. The service is free because they sell the sensors if they have to be replaced.
Odd quirk in European cars... try tightening the gas cap and restarting your car. In many makes if it hasn't been clicked several times the 'service engine' light will come on. I own a 2000 Saab 9-3 turbo and had it happen the day I bought the vehicle.
Enigneer from Audi of America sez:

It does in fact mean that its time for an oil change. The "service reminder" comes on every 5000 miles. Providing it has been reset after each oil change.

If it is a yellow orange colored icon like that looks like a little engine, often called the "check engine light" or "MIL", then you have a problem with one of the emissions control devices.

In any case, it sounds like its at least due for an oil change. Since the car is new to you, you should take it in for service so you know exactly when the last oil change has been done. Enjoy!!

How can i get a job with Audi?

My can one get a job with audi dealers? Not necessarly selling cars but might befixing it? Any training necesssary or do they send you to school? How can i get a job with Audi?Training is absolutely necessary to work on these cars, unless you have so much head knowledge with cars in general, that anyone would be willing ot have you on their crew. There is a program through UTI that allows for an advanced training with different companies. Its called Custom Training Group. Audi is one of them. Its a 4 month course that gives you the first year to 2 years of training, paid for by your hiring dealer. You must first go through the UTI training or another school that follows the CTG experience though. If you have a good head on your shoulders, you can try to get into a dealer and ask them to pay for your training. Audi allows for a "fast track" that will help get you certified. Obviously this is the cheaper way to do it but its much harder and you have to be really good. These cars are not easy to work on, so be advised that you may be going home angry on several occasions. How can i get a job with Audi?I think that for shops with auto companies, you'd need some prior knowledge as to fixing/repairing cars . The things that they will teach you are the things that are specifically for Audi's. Otherwise you'd have to be like a designer or something.

Just out of curiosity, why do you want to work for Audi so badly?

1992 Audi 100CS idling rich and speedometer not working, could both be caused by vehicle speed sensor?

Ok, it's a 1992 Audi 100CS, V6 5speed. The problem i'm having is that the speedometer isn't working and the car idles rich, you can smell the gas coming from the exhaust pipe. When i accelerate the car drives fine, the problem is only when the car is in idle. After driving on the freeway for a little while the car throws a code for the vehicle speed sensor, NOW, i was told that if i replaced the VSS that it would fix both the speedometer problem and the rich idle problem, would that work?1992 Audi 100CS idling rich and speedometer not working, could both be caused by vehicle speed sensor? No. The VSS and rich idle are two totally separate issues on your car. The amount of fuel added K-Jetronic system (early form of fuel injection). The VSS is not an input to the K-Jet.

What grade/weight oils does an audi a3 1999 model take?

I was wondering What weight/grade oils i should be using for the transmission, etc. If anyone knows a link to an online service manual that would be great. Is there a way to check the transmission fluid on my 1998 audi a6 quattro?

i heard only a audi dealer can check it is there another way cause they are so damn expensive? Is there a way to check the transmission fluid on my 1998 audi a6 quattro? If it's an Automatic trans, there's a dipstick. If it's Stick shift, there are two plugs on the side of the transmission, the top one is for checking fluid level. Unless you like to get real dirty crawling around under the car, take it to an oil change place. They can check it easily, and may not even charge you if it is not in need of fluid. Is there a way to check the transmission fluid on my 1998 audi a6 quattro? The most reliable way of checking the tranny fluid is by the use of a scan tool. This is also done at a specific fluid temp of 35 degree C. with gear lever in Park P etc according to repair manual.

I agree with you, dealer may be expensive, but they may definately be cheaper in doing this check than a cost of new tranny.

Or you could look out for a competent audi shop to help.

I hope this helps. Is there a way to check the transmission fluid on my 1998 audi a6 quattro?Audi has a "lifetime" trans fluid so there isnt an easy way to check. Your best bet is to just get it changed if it has never been.

I don't want to be running the AC compressor all winter long.Is there a way to disable the AC compressor on a 98 Audi A4?the A/C IS the auto climate control just switch off the A/C with the A/C button and set whatever temperature you want, but it will not demist as well with the A/C off as this also dries the airIs there a way to disable the AC compressor on a 98 Audi A4?Yes, there are fuses and you can always disconnect the pressure switch.

Hey guys what do u think is the better car a new Audi a4 or a Volkswagen Passat?

hey guys. i m buying a new car soon, its ether the new Audi a4 or a new Volkswagen Passat but i really can't make my mind up over what 1 to get.

since this is in the audi section, be prepared to have alot of Audi answers. But seriously, consider this... there is a reason Audi costs alot more than VW. So go with the Audi, you will not be disappointed.Hey guys what do u think is the better car a new Audi a4 or a Volkswagen Passat?
Some of the mechanicals are shared, but the Audi is finished with slightly better materials, refinement and attention to detail. Both excellent cars with not much difference, but if you can afford the few extra bucks get the Audi.Hey guys what do u think is the better car a new Audi a4 or a Volkswagen Passat?get the Audi, I own a audi myself and it is way better then a PASSAT. Iv driven in a Passat and it doesn't compare. The audi is way more comftroble and a funner car to drive.Hey guys what do u think is the better car a new Audi a4 or a Volkswagen Passat?
the audi is a better looking car and drives smoother too, im not sure on the prices but you should know that, and all around the audi has better featuresHey guys what do u think is the better car a new Audi a4 or a Volkswagen Passat?this is basically the same car. just make the decision based on your own preferences. looks are about the only difference between these cars, powertrain wise they are identicalHey guys what do u think is the better car a new Audi a4 or a Volkswagen Passat?
Audi is better. They're luxo cars. They have really sleek edges too.
They're both basically the same car. The Audi has just been turned up to 11.

not recommended. The seals are not made to handle that kind of pressure and you'll blow the thing up. But there are chips for the computer that give it better horsepower.

  • Is it possible to change the software of audi navigation plus (year 2002) to a different operating system?

Hi all, was wondering if i could change the software which i am using currently ( Audi navigation plus travelpilot dx ) to another operating system like garmin for example? If yes where can i get the software to change the system software? Is that something i could do by myself or do i need to go to the dealer to get ripped off? What other navigation system would run on audi navi plus?

Thanks to all for taking the time to answer my question. Is it possible to change the software of audi navigation plus (year 2002) to a different operating system? It looks like the TravelPilot DX that Audis use as their navigation system is actually manufacturered by Blaupunkt.

If it had been manufacturered by Garmin, you might have had a chance to upgrade the software to the Garmin OS. (Simiarly, if it had been made by Tom Rom, you might be able to switch to the Tom Tom software.)

The problem with changing the software for things like GPS navigators is that the software for each device is noramlly written to be ~very~ specific to that device. (It's whats known as 'embedded software,' and in an effort to be optimized for the GPS unit's hardware, the software tends to do a lot of things that will only work with that exact hardware.)

It's not impossible that the embedded hardware from one GPS device would work on another manufascturer's GPS devices....but it's extremely unlikely. In all liklihood, any software that wasn't developed by Blaupunkt for your specific device won't even boot the unit, much less let you use it as a navigator.

Unless you can find something ~very specific~ saying that the software from Garmin or Tom Tom or whoever can run your device, I simply wouldn't count on it.

Audi A4 Point of the button behind the console that when pushed by the backseat passengers locks the doors?

Is it like a security feature so when someones coming towards the car to kidnap you or something you can push it? I just thought it was weird that they didn't put an unlock button too. This is on a 2003 Audi A4 1.8T.Audi A4 Point of the button behind the console that when pushed by the backseat passengers locks the doors? An additional possibility is that because the ecm can be programmed to unlock when the key fob is removed from the ignition, just like it can auto lock when the cars speed exceeds 10 mph, there would be no requirement for that feature when these selections have been programmed.

The trouble starts when there is a glitch or the ecm was not programmed at the dealer prior to first sale.Audi A4 Point of the button behind the console that when pushed by the backseat passengers locks the doors? The old a4's (like mine, 1998) only has one lock/unlock button inside the car and it is near the front driver window controls. This was changed in the B6 (your car) due to safety issues, ie not being unable to unlock the car in a crash if the driver is unconcious or if the driver themself has taken you prisoner, like i do to my friends heheheheheh

Edit - hmmm didnt see the lack of unlock.. that is very weird.. i thought it unlocked too...

I just bought a 1998 audi a4 but today the engine did not start?

I just bought a 1998 audi a4 but today the engine did not start. So I put my foot on the brake pedal and turned the engine on and it worked....what's going on? Please help.I just bought a 1998 audi a4 but today the engine did not start?battery loose

    some connection loose

    or a bad starer

it has nothing to do with you putting your foot in the brake pedal. the time you put your foot on it and started, you just got lucky. by the way you describe it you have an ignition problem start by checking the battery terminals, they have to be tight and free of corrosion and acid. after that check the spark plugs maybe they are too worn out that are keeping the car form starting also check for spark see if they are sparking if not, you might have a bad coil.

but it seem you have a sometimes start sometimes don't situation so there is somethig loose so after checking battery and spark plugs make sure everything is connected properly the coils, and all the sensors connections wiggle them and make sure they have a good contact. the starer hot wire and ground too.

after that if it still don,t start put the parking brake turn the ignition on as if you were cranking the engine and tell some one to tap the starer with a hammer,s handle and if it stars you have a starer that have worn brushes and need to be replace. other thing you can is to jump the starer selonoid or just take the starer out and take to autozone to see if it still good.

the neutral safety swith is located in the clutch pedal on manual cars not on the brake pedal.I just bought a 1998 audi a4 but today the engine did not start? Its most likely something called a neural/brake safety switch. They are used on manual cars so they don't start on there own if parked on a steep hill but they have been incorporated into automatics lately. Meaning your foot on the brake before you can start the car.I just bought a 1998 audi a4 but today the engine did not start?your automatic gearbox ignition isolator is out of adjustment, you have to put your foot on the brake pedal to engage gear and the car will not start in gear so the switch is out of sync

  • How to change a 1996 Audi A4 alternator?

I don't really know that much about cars but my car died the other day and I think something is wrong with either the battery or the alternator. How do I remove the alternator correctly? And about how much would a new one cost? And do I have to buy an alternator for an Audi or can it just be any kind?

One more thing... is an alternator easy to install? Like can I do it myself or should I take it to a shop and have mechanic do it?How to change a 1996 Audi A4 alternator?I would strongly advise you take it to a professional. There is VERY little you can do on these cars yourself. Sorry, but if you attempt to fiddle with it, you will probably create more problems than you fix, and your repair bill will go up accordingly.

You will probably be looking at a bill of around $700-$800, if the alt is the problem.

Always disconnect the negative battery terminal before doing any work on the electrical system. Remove the serp belt with a long 0 offset wrench. Then lift the car safely on a hoist, remove the belly pan, wires and air duct. Remove the 2 bolts attaching the generator the bracket, and pull it out from the bottom.

You should use only a Bosch alternator, which will probably run you $400-$600. Call Carquest to find one.

BTW, what leads you to believe that alternator is bad?

Is there any difference in audi and skoda cars?

apart from price?you are only paying for the audi logo, thanks to clever advertising?

As Audi and Skoda have the same engine.

I do prefer the look of audi cars, though.

What do you think? Is there any difference in audi and skoda cars?I think it depends which end of the market you are looking at. We have a Skoda Fabia which is an amazing car.

I would say that if you are looking at spending 拢12k for a car get a skoda as you will get loads of car for the money but if you are spending 拢20k get an Audi as the image means it will hold its value better. I would not get a top of the range Skoda Superb with a V6 engine for example as it will plummet in valueIs there any difference in audi and skoda cars?
Skoda Superb and Audi A4 are almost identical inside apart from the badgeIs there any difference in audi and skoda cars? There are other differences.

The quality of the materials used for the interior finish is much higher in an Audi - its not bad in a Skoda, but Audi interiors have better materials than practically any other mainstream brand.

Also the upper-range versions of Audis tend to have more powerful engines (e.g a 3.2 v6 in the A3), and the Audi suspension tends to be tuned for a more sporty ride, while Skodas are tuned for a more comfortable ride.

However, you do have to pay a premium for the Audi badge.
Sell an Audi and with that money buy two Skoda ! lolIs there any difference in audi and skoda cars? There is an enourmous difference! Except for the cars that are copies of Audis. The majority of Audis were made many years ago. That logo represents the Auto union corporation, Germany's equivalent to General Motors. the 4 rings are for 4 wheels representing Horch, Audi, DKW, + Wanderer the 4 automakers who merged to form a great corporation that dominated Grand Prix racing in the late 30s. The name Audi and the trademark are about all that is left of that conglomerate now, well that and Audi's long and distinguished history of engineering excellence. Volkswagen bought Audi, it was volkswagen who made copies of Audis and put VW trademarks on them, not the other way around. Skoda is a Czeck company that may have a history, but they made cheap communist cars, so nobody cares. What happened to VW happened to Skoda. Is there any difference in audi and skoda cars?
yeah one uses oil.....and the other uses heaps of oil
Don't know about Audi, but the Skoda versions of the Volkswagen models have the reputation of being better built. Engines for some of these vehicles might be built anywhere, the transmissions somewhere else and the whole shebang comes together in one factory. I hear that a lot of Mercedes-Benz engines have been made in Holland. Is there any difference in audi and skoda cars?
Well isn't CowboyC full of one sided bias and ignorance - cant spell Czech either? If he actually cared to do a little research he would see that the history of Skoda is one of the longest in the world (3rd oldest car maker I believe) - made vehicles for heads of state, crown princes, dignitaries and so on. Have a long and succesful sport division, survived under political conditions that many other firms stagnated and died from. Skoda Auto need to justify their existence, expertise or pedigree to no one and the blind stupidity towards the brand is more or less uniquely a British trait.

A car cannot be communist by the way and that comment alone shows a complete ignorance of so many things on so many levels, that it beggars belief.

As for the Audi, VW, Skoda and Seat debate - today this is about 80% a marketing exercise. If you want to pay for a badge and worry what the people at the golf club think - buy the Audi. If you have more brain than money buy the Skoda - a vehicle that is every bit as good and use what is left over for a few golf holidays to the Algarve.
They share many component parts, Audi does have a more upmarket interior, however, the Skoda factory in Mlada Boleslav is state of the art, the workers are very motivated, skilled Czechs. Audis are assembled with, at least in part, migrant workers from Turkey. The reliability surveys bear this out, Skoda seems to be able to put together a better car than Audi or VW.
    Basically same vehicles mechanically,

But Audi has far better quality materials for interior.Skoda cheap and cheerful.Audi luxury.

    Depends what you want
Not much both over rated rubish

How much would the 2009 Audi a4 be after about 6 months of use witha decent amount of miles on it?

wondering if by next may the new audi a4 that just came out will be under 28,000 with about 20,000 miles on it?How much would the 2009 Audi a4 be after about 6 months of use witha decent amount of miles on it?20,000 Miles is a lot for only a couple of months. I would expect the Demo's to have maybe 9000-11000 Miles, MSRP of around $42,000, and sell for around $36,000. It is hard to guess because Kelley Blue Book doesn't have the values yet, and we d not know if this car is going to be a hit or not.

The dealer I work at is selling our 2008 A5 Demo which originally cost $48,000 for $42,900 with 10,500 Miles.

Brakes just cost me 200 for all pads and rotors

If you look online you can find most things relatively cheap. How much is regular maintenance (cost of tires, oil change, tune-up, brakes...etc) for an Audi A4?I bought an Audi A4 new in 2003 with the 1.8 turbo and manual transmission. Today I have 83,000 miles on and it is an absolute dream to drive. I had replaced the fuel pump under warranty at 23,000 and the water pump at 65,000 out of my pocket. I have all the service done at the dealership. You must use synthetic oil and an oil change at my dealer in Madison WI is $50.00 and that includes a car wash. I change it every 5,000 miles although I've read with synthetic many people go 10,000. I have two sets of tires and wheels. A set of snows for our beautiful Wisconsin winters and a set of performance tires for the summer. Spark plugs are due at 80,000 and a air and cabin filter at 30,000. I highly reccommend an A4 over a BMW as the fit and finish is superior and BMW's are way too common place for me. Plus the quattro drive system ensures four season safety and stability. Happy Trails!!

What will my checkup cost for my Audi A4?

I have a 2005 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro. The warranty is now done at 50,000 miles. The next scheduled checkup is at 55,000 miles. Does anyone know approximately how much the scheduled checkup/oil change costs at the Audi dealership? Thanks! What will my checkup cost for my Audi A4?Oil changes in and of themselves should run you around 75 bucks or so, maybe a few dollars less if you're not using synthetic oil. The scheduled maintenance may run you a few hundred but should be no more than $400 I would imagine. Check your owners manual and see what is scheduled for the 55,000 mile check up. You can also call the dealership and get an estimate based on nothing being wrong with the car except the need for scheduled maintenance. What will my checkup cost for my Audi A4?As Peace Makes Plenty said, oil changes at the dealership are usually $75...and I also agree that you are probably looking at around $300-450 (assuming nothing is wrong)

According to the Audi Scheduled Maintenance Schedule, nothing very big needs to be replaced...just a few checks

Should I be concerned about high mileage on an Audi A4 Diesel?

I have test drove an Audi A4 cabriolet - it is registered March 2007 - it is a diesel and has done 83,000.00 miles. I personally love the car but my partner is concerned at the miles it has done - should be worry about this?Should I be concerned about high mileage on an Audi A4 Diesel? With good regular serving that's nothing, it should go for much longer than that without any problems. In fact, regular lengthy use is much better than intermittent use with a raft of cold starts etc. That's why an ex-rep's car with an intergalactic mileage is often a better bet than one which has only been used to take a little old lady to church once a week.

Always buy on condition rather than miles indicated. I'd get it professionally inspected to set your mind at rest.Should I be concerned about high mileage on an Audi A4 Diesel?THats very high - average is 10,000 a year and thats done loads more. Does it have a full service history?

EDIT: THats good then. Audi servicing is horribly high priced (trust me I know - on my second Audi) I have generally found them to be reliable, great build quality, but pricey to get put right if something goes wrong. Get an AA/RAC check done on it (also do an HPI because it might just be on finance) but if its priced right, its well worth looking at.Should I be concerned about high mileage on an Audi A4 Diesel?Audi's internally are very well built and diesels generally have a slightly longer life span.

But for a ~3 year old car it is high, if it's priced accordingly and there are service records it might not be a bad buy and the engine should still have plenty of life left in it.Should I be concerned about high mileage on an Audi A4 Diesel?
yeah the car is 3 yrs old so that means the ppl who owned it b4 drove it almost everyday.but 83k miles is pretty low.i would still buy it

How Can I increase Horse Power on my 2002 Audi TT Quattro?

I have a stock 2002 audi tt quattro and i wanna make it better performance wise but I'm not so sure on how to. I want to increase the horse power and make it louder and/or more noticeable without breaking the bank. How Can I increase Horse Power on my 2002 Audi TT Quattro?you can replace stock parts with performence partsHow Can I increase Horse Power on my 2002 Audi TT Quattro?Best bang for your buck is to get a chip. This is a good starting point for any increase in performance. It helps unlock some of the potential of a stock car by changing the operating parameters to run more efficiently. These can run pretty pricey but you usually get what you pay for. APR makes one as well as turbo upgrades. Do your research and don't be afraid to ask the company questions.

Making it louder is easy. Change out your current muffler for something aftermarket or run a straight pipe. This can be done at any muffler shop and shouldn't be more than 100 bucks. How Can I increase Horse Power on my 2002 Audi TT Quattro? After market exhaust system.

How does the Audi A8 control the steering?

I'm not interested in the software of how the car detects lanes or a wandering car, but I'm interested in the hardware aspect of it. Does the Audi A8 actually move the steering wheel by itself? Is it a drive-by-wire system that is controlled by a computer? Is it hydraulic, electronice, etc.?

Sources would also be greatly appreciated.

Thanks! How does the Audi A8 control the steering? They have this hi tech device called a human. The human turns the wheel which activates the power steering rack. The lane departure is just a camera that looks at the lines of a road and the angle of the wheels to let you know that your drifting a little. The car does not move the wheel by itself.

  • How does the Audi A5 fare for maintenance?

If you are not familiar with the A5, how does Audi compare with other other manufacturers in terms of car reliability? How does the Audi A5 fare for maintenance?I own the A4 (not A5), but in general they are very similar in terms of technology and quality.

The quality is OK (not great). There's some complaint with electronics. The car is high maintenance car. Everything is very unique to Audi, making them almost impossible for independent shops working on them.

Also because of the complexity, the labor charges are usually very high. Also the parts are more expensive.

Ex: My timing belt (and water pump) cost $1300. My honda civic's timing belt cost just $350.

Ex2: The cat converter cost $800 (parts only).

I would NOT buy another Audi again.

Good Luck...How does the Audi A5 fare for maintenance?
    Reliability is average.

    Like BMW, Mitsubishi, VW.

Pretty much all German cars get electrical problems.

The Audi's engines last long, but they usually have electrical problems like power windows getting stuck.

The Audi A5 is new so there are no reliability ratings yet. There won't be for another 2 years because they don't break down when they are new cars.

They are German luxury cars so they are expensive to maintain. How does the Audi A5 fare for maintenance?A5 is not for the faint of heart. You cannot make a Toyota salary and expect to live an Audi lifestyle. Only bite off what you can chew. C7S is correct. The mainline A5 is only our this year so far. A reliable track record history is not there yet. Give it a couple and ask around at your local AudiClub to boot. How does the Audi A5 fare for maintenance?
    I'm not familiar w/the A5 no.

But Audi's are very good cars. very reliable... however, when they do need work (including common keep up ie oil changing, lube and filter etc), it's rather pricey, like lexus and BMW.How does the Audi A5 fare for maintenance?NO idea

Can you get Audi A8 upgrades that are not already in your car?

i have a 2006 Audi A8L and i have trouble paying for it sometimes. so i want to know instead of getting a new car, i could just get repairs and upgrades. like auto cruise or the really nice sound system thats not from stupid Bose. let me know if i can get any upgrades added to my car.Can you get Audi A8 upgrades that are not already in your car?Hmm, another lucky one with a Bose system...

I have a stock Bose in my G as well and it is mediocre at best.

I've looked into upgrading, but because Bose system impedance is 1-2 ohms, wheras all aftemarket speakers are 4 ohms, I'd have to replace the head unit along with the amps.

This can be costly, but luckily, the big box stores have alpine, kicker, pioneer etc packages that will perform much better- look for sales*as these prices also include the install. No need to go top of line- any midline system will be better than stock Bose!

As far as other upgrades... The A8 usually comes with everything, so I'd say new mags and tires: check tirerack.com - they have an app that fits your car with different mags!

Good luck! Can you get Audi A8 upgrades that are not already in your car?Auto cruise, or cruise control will be quite tricky to install. Especially on an A8 which has an electronic throttle bottle, and doesn't just use cables to open the throttle body.

Just about any aftermarket speakers will be better than the factory ones, even the Bose ones. You dont have to spend a fortune, just get some nice door and rear deck lid speakers and you will notice a big improvement.

It just depends on how technical you are. I would go on an Audi Forum and do some searching. Sure someone else has had the same door problem before and knows exactly how to fix it.

How much would these repairs cost for my Audi?

I have a 1998 Audi A6 Quattro and am taking it to a mechanic shop that specializes with Audi's. Here is the list:

Tie Rod's in the front are extremely loose

A ball joint needs to be replaced

    Audi needs alignment

Transmission fluid needs to be replaced

Air conditioning isn't cold, needs coolant? How much would these repairs cost for my Audi? Why don't you have the repair shop give you an estimate? We do not know the labour rates, for this place. Also, the transmission fluid does not get changed, its semi-permanent. If it is not shifting properly, the tiptronic will need to be scanned using a VAG COM. If you need a R134A (refrigerant) charge for the A/C, that means there is a leak, and that will cost more money. At least you can save some cash, with the tie rods and the ball joint, since they are close to each other. Face the music, an Audi costs money to get repaired, so clear the credit card, and deposit some green in the checking account. How much would these repairs cost for my Audi?I own Audi A4. I had similar problems. I mostly do my own work.

    ===

%26gt;%26gt;Tie Rod's in the front are extremely loose

I just did this on my car (by myself) 2 saturdays ago. The tie rod in my A4 was surprisingly simple. But audi parts cost about $125 per side. I got mine after market for $25 per side. The labor should be less than 1 hour per side.

    ===

%26gt;%26gt; A ball joint needs to be replaced

    Sorry no info here.

    ===

    %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; Audi needs alignment

That's about 1 hour labor (or $125 in NYC). I was quoted $125 by my dealer.

    ===

%26gt;%26gt; Transmission fluid needs to be replaced

Again that another 1 hour labor

    ===

%26gt;%26gt; Air conditioning isn't cold, needs coolant?

    Another 1 hour labor.

    Good Luck...

Is it possible to install aftermarket paddle shifters in an automatic 1999 Audi a4?

I have a 1999 Audi a4 b5 2.8 quattro with automatic transmission and I was wondering if there was any way that I could have aftermarket paddle shifters installed to my steering wheel/transmission. if it is possible I was wondering about how much it would cost. is there Any connection between audi's tiptronic system and aftermarket paddle shifters?

    thank you!

-jacobIs it possible to install aftermarket paddle shifters in an automatic 1999 Audi a4?No. Paddle shifters indicate a DSG or twin clutch or sequential gearbox. Automatics don't get shifted, so you can't do it.Is it possible to install aftermarket paddle shifters in an automatic 1999 Audi a4?Anything is possible....for a price. To be frank, the money, time, and labor involved it is just not worth it.

What do I look for when buying a used Audi?

Im looking into buying a used car down the street from me.

    It's a used 1997 Audi A4 Quattro AWD

It has 123,000 miles on it, but it looks really good.

The gentlemen said that he had replaced the

    -front control arm

    -timing belt

    - and wheel bearings

    all around 90,000 miles.

I really don't know that much about that kind of stuff. I don't know what is commonly problematic with this type of car, so any insight would be helpful. What do I look for when buying a used Audi?make sure you can get the papers for the maitenence on it. check out some audi forums and read about common problems of them.. timing belts are a common issue, so is sludge( engine). i think that there are more things that need to be done at 100000 miles then the front control arm, timing belt and wheel bearings. i can think of water pump, coolant change off the top of my head. you could probally find some more on forums. make sure you can afford maitenence and repairs. german cars can get expensive, but they can last a long time if they are taken good care of. I have a 99 passat, which is very similar to the A4's.
