How does the Audi A8 control the steering?

I'm not interested in the software of how the car detects lanes or a wandering car, but I'm interested in the hardware aspect of it. Does the Audi A8 actually move the steering wheel by itself? Is it a drive-by-wire system that is controlled by a computer? Is it hydraulic, electronice, etc.?

Sources would also be greatly appreciated.

Thanks! How does the Audi A8 control the steering? They have this hi tech device called a human. The human turns the wheel which activates the power steering rack. The lane departure is just a camera that looks at the lines of a road and the angle of the wheels to let you know that your drifting a little. The car does not move the wheel by itself.
