Can you improve the power of a standard AUDI A3 1997?

Bought myself an Rplate audi a3, had the engine reconditioned and other various parts added, but it still seems a little slowish and powerless, it is a 1.6 standard petrol engine, is there anyway i can improve the power? Can you improve the power of a standard AUDI A3 1997?There's not much you can do that'll be worth the expense. A sports exhaust, ECU remap and a K%26amp;N air filter might find you another 20bhp, but it'll cost 拢500-odd.

The 1.6 really isn't up to pulling the A3 which is quite a heavy car for its size, even the 1.8 turbo isn't that quick.

If you desperately want more power, you'd be much better off buying another car. Your A3 with a reconditioned engine should be worth a fair bit, I'd swap it for something like a Seat Leon Cupra which is similar to the Audi but has the 180bhp motor from the TT. It's quite quick!!Can you improve the power of a standard AUDI A3 1997?http://www.tt-forum.co.uk/

Have a little wander round that forum - some brilliant Audi techies post in there! Can you improve the power of a standard AUDI A3 1997?shame you could have had the 1.8 crankshaft put in when it was reconditioned or even fitted a 2litre engine for much better performance
