Moving from Florida to Toronto Canada. Should i sell my BMW or take it with me and register it in Toronto?

I live in Florida and own a 2009 BMW 335i (no liens) valued at $USD45,000. I will be relocating to Toronto Canada soon. Is it better to sell my car in Florida and buy a new 1 in Canada, or just drive the car to Toronto and re-register the car there. Any idea of cost to transfer and register a US car in Canada?Moving from Florida to Toronto Canada. Should i sell my BMW or take it with me and register it in Toronto?Hi, I suggest sell the car and buy another one in Canada.!

It depends of many factors if you are canadian or you are not, PLUS (+)

forms, originals, money, copies, license, insurance, registration, time, weather (-5 C with wind factor -19C), waiting time, your Status, Immigration, etc, etc, etc .

Al the best for you and wellcome to Canada !Moving from Florida to Toronto Canada. Should i sell my BMW or take it with me and register it in Toronto?
There is a bit of hassle but not a lot. You may have to get a Daytime Running Light module installed but a Canadian BMW dealer can do that for you. Your speedometer already has metric speeds on it and no one cares if your odometer is in miles.

Likely you will drop $300 or so registering it in Canada. Plus the cost of the lighting control module if they make you get one. You could also ask the dealer in Florida if they can get you one or check out the link below.

Or do a Yahoo search for "adding daytime running lights BMW"Moving from Florida to Toronto Canada. Should i sell my BMW or take it with me and register it in Toronto?Your car was built for the USA market.Canada is all metric now.You will need a letter of compliance from BMW USA stating that you car meets all Canadian requirements.Even if it does you will have to pay tax on it again.Might I suggest that you call an international broker to see if it is economically feasible? I went the other way.Born and raised in Toronto, we now live south of Tampa.Moving from Florida to Toronto Canada. Should i sell my BMW or take it with me and register it in Toronto?
If its your personal property and you are bringing it with you for your personal use (ie: not to resell it) then it will just cost you the fees to register it in Canada. Most likely under $100.Moving from Florida to Toronto Canada. Should i sell my BMW or take it with me and register it in Toronto?Take it with you. You will lose too much in depreciation by selling an almost new car and replacing it.

Should i drive my bmw m3 in the winter time?

I have a 2002 bmw m3. should i drive it in the winter time? i am going to put 4 blizzak snow tires.Should i drive my bmw m3 in the winter time?Even if you put snow tires on it, it still sits very close to the ground. That front air dam makes a wonderful snow plow, making the tire's job even more difficult trying to push snow. Although the Blizzaks are wonderful tires, on this car because of the size of the brakes, they are still mounted on a large wheel, which requires them to be low profile. Fat, low profile tires are not good in the snow.

In the end, it would be better than with summer tires, but not great. Keep the M3 at home when it snows, and with tires that belong on it, high performance ones. Drive something else. The price of those tires could buy you a cheap beater for the winter.Should i drive my bmw m3 in the winter time? There's nothing wrong with driving it in winter conditions as long as you have the proper tires fitted and the proper mental attitude about driving on ice and snow.

  • Things to do in Philadelphia?

Hey guys. My girlfriend and I are going to Philadelphia this Tuesday just to kinda hang out for several hours. Actually more like for all day.

We're taking the train to the market east station, and probably going to head down to south street. What recommendations do you all have for things to do, places to eat at [besides the typical gino's and pat's], etc. I'm 16 and she's 17, we live in the pa suburbs. Museums are boring and just so... blegh, so please, no museums. Ohh, and everything should be in semi-walking distance, meaning no more than a few miles away.

If you need to know more from me, please ask away!

Thanks for any help..Things to do in Philadelphia?
you should def check out eastern state penitentiary if you havent been yet. you can walk aroudn freely during the day and its still very eerie.

also you can go shopping on walnut street, have ice cream at capogiro http://www.capogirogelato.com/main.html best ice cream ever and sit by rittenhouse square
penns landing- ferry and great boat rides! walk around the city near chesnut, to see the skycrapers. go to the academy of music and see the color purple ( a great show which i saw today). enjoy!Things to do in Philadelphia?
just south street in general, it has something for everyone
There is not much to do on South Street unless you want to shop or eat. Most of the tourists head to Old City where there are museums and you mentioned you don't want to that. Maybe a horse and carriage ride or ride the ducks? You can purchase tickets at 6th and Chestnut Streets. Alot of teenagers like to hang out at the Gallery Mall at 9th and Market Streets. Maybe you could do one of the cruises on the Spirit of Philadelphia. Look it up at www.spiritcruises.com. They serve lunch. Or take the ferry over to the NJ State Aquarium. It can be fun if you make it!Things to do in Philadelphia?
I know u said no museums but the Franklin Instatute is really cool

Paul Martin or Ryan McDonagh (upside).Who would you say was/is the most successful NHL player who won the Minnesota Mr. Hockey award?
Paul Martin wins it for me. But it could end up being Bjugstad or Leddy some time in the future.Who would you say was/is the most successful NHL player who won the Minnesota Mr. Hockey award?
Toss up between Paul Martin and Trent Klatt. Truth be told, a lot of them don't ring a bell.
Paul Martin gets my vote. Although Ryan McDonagh isn't a bad choice either.

Is California the greatest football player producing state?

Here's what I've found on Wikipedia. Seems like 14 (if you include Reggie Bush) of the like 80 (or so) Heisman Trophy Winners hail from CA. I know that CA also has the most NFL players (in fact, if Green Bay had won out, then both Super Bowl QB's would have been from CA - both Brady and Rodgers are from CA). I also know they have the largest population, but they are not known for being FOOTBALL crazy like TX, OH, FL, and GA are (as an example). What do you think?

The Great Heisman State (via Wikipedia)

California has produced the most Heisman Trophy winners. Thirteen winners were both born and played high school football in the Golden State. Six played collegiately at USC and one each at UCLA, Stanford, Army, Texas, Colorado, Notre Dame, and Miami.

1946 Glenn Davis from Bonita High School in La Verne

1964 John Huarte from Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana

1965 Mike Garrett from Roosevelt High School in Los Angeles

1967 Gary Beban from Sequoia High School in Redwood City

1968 O.J. Simpson from Galileo High School in San Francisco

1970 Jim Plunkett from William C. Overfelt High School, then James Lick High School, in East San Jose

1979 Charles White from San Fernando High School in San Fernando

1981 Marcus Allen from Abraham Lincoln High School in San Diego

1992 Gino Torretta from Pinole Valley High School in Pinole

1994 Rashaan Salaam from La Jolla Country Day School in La Jolla

1998 Ricky Williams from Patrick Henry High School in San Diego

2002 Carson Palmer from Santa Margarita Catholic High School in Rancho Santa Margarita

2004 Matt Leinart from Mater Dei High School in Santa AnaIs California the greatest football player producing state?
Alot of pro's come out of california for one reason, shear population, there is more of a chance of a person going pro from a state with a population in the multi millions compared to state like north dakota with a entire population of around 600,000 people.
    No.

Florida has produced more current four and five star current college players, followed by Georgia, then California, then Texas. Is California the greatest football player producing state?
Yes. We also have some schools in the top twenty-five highschools in the country. Amani toomer, maurice jones-drew, and dj Williams all went de la salle, rated in the top 10. Have won like six of the last ten state championships.
Over 40 million residents, almost double the size of the next state? I can't imagine why Wyoming can't compete on these statistics, let's see what could it be, what could it be, nope I'm stumped. Is California the greatest football player producing state?
No, California is not the greatest football player producing state. Personally, I believe that it is either Pennsylvania or New Jersey. The Pennsylvania/New Jersey area has produced so many good (but way underrated) players, who have gone on to have success in the NFL, all the way from Franco Harris to Victor Cruz.
Okay, so California and Florida produced the most oranges in the nation....
Yes and we have the best weed too
Well California Close but it's behind Texas and Florida . California Produce the best Quarterback, that why you have so many Heisman trophy winner but Texas produce better Athlete .

Who wins best of 7 series between same seed in different conference...meaning..Lakers-c鈥?Denver-Orlando.?

and 1-8so...if im corretc..i based these off win pct on espn standings...put who u think will win and series...i will make my picks as example...i just thought it would be neat to see thest matchups...even though the records show West to be dominating overall, east i think the matchups are closer than they appear...

    LAKERS-CAVS Lakers win 4-2

    MAGIC-DENVER Orlando wins 4-3

Maverics-HAWKS this is very tough...but i do say that Dallas made great trade 4-3

UTAH-BOSTON well boston being ranked so low because of injuries...no contest 4-1

Oklhoma City-Chicago 4-1 Thunder...no gordon, no salmons, no more excuses needed

    Phoenix-Bucks phoenix 4-0

SPURS-Charlotte Spurs 4-2 although charlotte has been pounding the elites...swept lakers last year 3-1 vs cavs this year...i say timmy gino tony and richard are a quardruplet team that id put 4 on 4 against any tieam in the league...when healthy...i mean yea..boston has 4 allstars, and magic do too, as well as lakers almost do...KG, Pierce, RAY, Rondo vs Howard, Lewis, Jameer, Vince Carter vs. Kobe, Gasol, Bynum, Artest, Odom(thats the problem, Lakers have 5 lol...who do u pick)thats why i have them beating the cavs

Portland-MIAMI - well im anxious to see how the camby deal goes...and if brandon roy gets back to superstart status...and if Miami gets off its ***...oneal, wade, beaslley, ALSTON...come one...im goin with HEAT, 4-3Who wins best of 7 series between same seed in different conference...meaning..Lakers-c鈥?Denver-Orlando.?
    Lakers-Cavs; Cavs 4-2

    Magic-Denver; Denver 4-3

    Mavericks-Hawks; Mavs 4-3

    Utah-Boston; Utah 4-1

    Oklahoma City-Chicago; OKC 4-2

    Spurs-Charlotte; Spurs 4-3

    Portland-Miami; Miami 4-2
    CAVS over Lakers in 6

    Denver over Magic in 6

    Dallas over Atlanta in 6

    Boston over Utah in 6

    Oklahoma over Chicago in 6

    Charlotte over Spurs in 6

Miami over Portland in 6Who wins best of 7 series between same seed in different conference...meaning..Lakers-c鈥?Denver-Orlando.?
    lakers v cavs - can be a 4-3 or 4-2 lakers win

    orlando v denver - 4-1 denver wins

    mavs v hawks - 4-0 dallas wins

    utah v boston - 4-2 boston wins

    okc v chicago - 4-1 okc wins

    phx v bucks - 4-1 phoenix wins

    spurs v charlotte - 4-2 spurs wins

    portland v miami - 4-2 portland wins

btw, the only way lakers can beat cavs is if the centers step it up, especially bynum...Gasol as usual needs to be more assertive..artest is doing fine, great defense and can make those 3's..kobe is kobe and we will definitely need him to finish close games
johnsmith, you seem to be a Cavs fan.

Pau Gasol has missed something like 15 games. Ron Artest is still learning the triangle (players say it takes a long time before the offense is instinctual). Last but not least, Kobe Bryant is playing with several injuries most players would sit with. And yet the Lakers are just one game behind the Cavs, while the East is still weaker than the West.

I'd say the defending champs can take the Cavs 4-2.Who wins best of 7 series between same seed in different conference...meaning..Lakers-c鈥?Denver-Orlando.?
Well, judging by your history on the basketball board, you are clearly biased in favor of the Lakers, which is why you'd like to think it would be 4-2.

There is now way the Lakers would win a series 4-2 against a healthy Cavs team.

Fans of certain teams are usually so caught up in watching their own team that they don't see the problems with other teams. The fact is the Cavs have been battling big time injuries for about 6 weeks ( Delonte and Mo, their best shooters, were out for a month ), and now they are without Shaq AND big z for a while, as well as trying to get Antawn Jamison incorporated into the system.

But yet dispite all that's happened, the Cavs are STILL with the best record.

So, 4-2? No way ... I'll say this. If the Lakers have 4 home games, in games 1,2,6, and 7, the Lakers might win 4-3, this year.

... But, if the CAVS have the home games for games 1,2,6, and 7, the Cavs would most likely win the series this year, either 4-3 or possibly even 4-2. .. That's assuming that the Cavs are healthy at the time that those 2 teams play each other.

    Philly cheesesteaks, Pat's or Gino's?

keep it to Pat's or Gino's please, I know there are a million local ones that are "way better" but let's focus

I equate it to Santarpio's Pizza in East Boston. Satarpio's gets all the pub but the real deal is in the North End, kinda like Gino's. Gino's has the big neon sign and gets on TV during Monday Night Football, but it just doesn't compare to a Pat's wiz.

Went to St. Joe's, from Boston, love Philly.Philly cheesesteaks, Pat's or Gino's?

  • Fast food / restaurant employees, help... ?

is it a requirement to wear gloves when preparing foods? earlier today, i was at papa gino's (an east coast pizzeria) and i noticed something kind of strange. there was a girl putting frozen fries into another container, and she was wearing thin gloves. to the immediate left of her, was a girl making a pizza who was sprinkling cheese and pepperonis on top of the pizza with her bare hands. i am wondering whether or not this is acceptable or does it just depend on the restaurant?Fast food / restaurant employees, help... ?
It Depends on the restaurant and whether or not it's fast food. Burger King sells cheap burgers but once you go in there you notice no one is wearing gloves. The cashiers handle money and have to get the food to you. Their competition McDonalds wears gloves, in order to keep things sanitary. So it really does depend on the restaurant. But I'd say at Papa Ginos some employees are probably required and others aren't. Maybe the lady with the frozen fries needs the gloves because she doesn't have time to wash her hands but on the other hand, the pizza girl is probably one of the chefs who has time to wash their hands and prepare food but do nothing else. Or...The pizza lady was breaking the rules by not wearing gloves.

Hope that pizza girl wasn't making what you ordered ;)

depends. a. they should wash their hands and then wear gloves. however b. its rare nowadays that they enforce it.

    c. they should have food handlers cards as well. which TRAINS ppl to wear gloves, and wash hands at least every 30 minutes, between every task, and if you touch your body, face, hair, eat, drink or be merr.. er smoke cigarettes. let alone touching the trash, or wash trays.

and 99% of restaurants are way too busy for ppl to do that 999/1000 times.Fast food / restaurant employees, help... ?
well it might depend on the restrunt. i worked at a fast food restrunt called Jack In The Box and was never required to ware gloves but, i did have to clean my hands every 30 min to an hour so that might be how it is there. also theres a possibility that surtan food need to be handled with gloves as appose to others.

    hope i could help :)
It depends on the resturant. Technically yes, but thats just not the way it really happens. As long as they wash their hands it'll be ok.Fast food / restaurant employees, help... ?
It also depends on the state and the health department rules in that state.
It depends on the restaurant. They should be washing their hands thoroughly whether they wear gloves or not.

Who has the best Chicago Deep Dish pizza?

My fiance isn't from Chicago and I want to take her to have the best Chicago Deep Dish...one problem, i dont know who has it. I am not one for a sweet sauce on my pie, i like more of a tangy sauce i guess you could say. For some reason or another I've never made it down to Gino's East, or out to Lou Malnati's and I haven't gone to the Original Pizzeria Uno or Deux. I'm dying for some deep dish so I want to know what the Yahoo community thinks is Numero Uno.

    My Favorite Pies:

    Home Run Inn...the original

    Arnie Salernos in Berwyn

    Pies I dont like:

    Aurelios

    Rosati's

Pizza Hut or anything like itWho has the best Chicago Deep Dish pizza?
Avoid Uno's and Due's!! Unlike they were many years ago, when they were the best pizza in Chicago, their pizza absolutely sucks now! Now they're just living off of their reputation and dragging in unsuspecting tourists who wouldn't know a good Chicago deep-dish from a Tombstone.

Lou Malnati's is very good and certainly maintains the integrity of a Chicago pizza. I haven't been to Gino's in ages so I really can't comment on them. My choice for best deep dish is a little place called My Pi on Clark near Diversey. They're not famous, they're not a chain, just really good deep dish with all of the classic touches. Neither Lou's nor My Pi have those thick, sweet sauces you talk about (God, I hate Rosati's too!)

One more note: Giordano's is great pizza but it's stuffed pizza, not deep dish. There's a real difference between the two types. Since she's your fiance I suspect you'll be together for awhile, so I think you should try both a deep dish and a stuffed at some point, just to give her that full Chicago immersion.
Check out Second City Pizza Tours. You get to visit 5 of Chicago's great pizza venues and you get nearly a whole slice of pizza at each location....Gino's East, Giordano's, Uno's, Quartino, and Castel Gandolfo. www.secondcitypizzatours.com

Who has the best Chicago Deep Dish pizza?
Two true Chicago staples, Uno and Due, serve classic deep-dish pies and are the local shrines that started the Chicago-style phenomenon. Expect a crowd at either of these sibling pizzerias, and be prepared to wait. As you do, dream of a bacon cheeseburger pie, a shroom version, or the signature pizza, loaded with sausage, pepperoni, romano and...

The Cheesecake Factory at the bottom of the Hancock Observatory is good!
Chicago is filled with great restaurants, but you're going to have to go more upscale. The places you've visited don't pretend to offer fabulous food.

I love Vinci, Sapori, and Coco Pazzo for Italian food. (We tried the hot new restaurant, Cibo Matto, recently, but while the food is fine, the place is overcrowded and understaffed.) The Spiaggia Cafe is a less expensive alternative to the main Spiaggia restaurant.

I enjoyed Gaylord for Indian food, and there's a good Thai restaurant -- the Snail -- in my neighborhood of Hyde Park. We also have Medici, largely an inexpensive pizza and pasta restaurant, though I am not a pizza connoisseur, Piccolo Mondo (Italian), La Petite Folie (upscale French), and various ethnic dining spots on 55th Street.

My husband, a Philly native, claims that it's impossible to find a good cheesesteak here. He did love the Frontera Grill for Mexican food.Restaurants that are ACTUALLY good in chicago?
I love Heaven on Seven. I like the first one in the Garland office building. Great cajun food. 111 N Wabash Ave. (across the street from Macy's)

I think you should check out http://www.restaurant.com look at the restaurant menus that are listed. If you purchase a coupon make sure it is valid for the day and time you want to use it. Just put in Illinois into the search then search Chicago. There are 100's of listings.

I think you should also try a few other pizza places I do not particularly like Giordano's pizza.

Smoque is supposed to have some awesome BBQ but I have heard you have to get there early as they do sell out of some items.

Things to do in Chicago (for a 12 year old)?

Hi! I'm going to Chicago for a 3 day spring break (we will also be going and stopping through St. Louis and Memphis that week). Weather sounds pretty nice. I love to travel. I've heard of a few things to do, a few places to eat, and a few places to stay. We don't have a lot, so just let us know what to do. Remember, there are kids traveling. This is what we have so far.

    -Navy Pier

    -Sears Tower

    -Gino's East Pizza

We've already got tickets for the Cardinals in St. Louis, so if you are recommending baseball tickets, 1 games enough for the week. :)

    **ALL IN CHICAGO**

Which of these are plagiarism and why? Which ones are not?

    1. Last summer, my family and I traveled to Chicago, which was quite different from the rural area I grew up in. We saw the dinosaur Sue at the Field Museum, and ate pizza at Gino's East.

    2. Americans want to create a more perfect union; they also want to establish justice, ensure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty for everybody.

    3. I find it ridiculous that 57% of high school students think their teachers assign too much homework.

    4. Martin Luther King was certain that nobody would want to be contented with a surfacy type of social analysis that concerns itself only with effects and doesn't deal with root causes.

    5. Martin Luther King wrote that the city of Birmingham's "white power structure" left African-Americans there "no alternative" but to demonstrate ("Letter from the Birmingham Jail" para. 5).

    6. In "Letter from the Birmingham Jail," King writes to fellow clergy saying that although they "deplore the demonstrations taking place in Birmingham, your statement fails to express a similar concern for the conditions that brought about the demonstrations."

    7. My friend Kara told me that she loves living so close to the ocean.

    8. Americans are guaranteed the right to freely gather for peaceful meetings.Which of these are plagiarism and why? Which ones are not?
Assuming that the uncited texts are original to the writer, none of them are plagiarism, but a few could be better cited.

    1. Personal account. OK.

    2. To Americans at least, this probably comes under common knowledge, since it closely follows the Preamble to the United States Constitution. It'd be better to say so, though.

  • Places to eat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner in Chicago?

I'm going to be in Chicago for spring break, and I was just wondering if there are any good places to eat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner in Chicago. For breakfast, I normally like little cafes or places where they serve a tradition tasty breakfast. Nothing too pricey please. For lunch and dinner, I pretty much like anything except for indian and middle eastern cuisine. Somethings that I like are steak, sushi, mexican. I'd also like to try some Chicago hot dogs and deep dish pizza while I'm here, so if you know any good places, please recommend. I was looking at another question someone had asked about places for sushi in Chicago, but the places the people recommended didn't look so traditional and a little pricey. So, if you know any traditional or good sushi places, let me know! :) I've heard of a lot of good places to eat Deep Dish Pizza. My teacher is from Chicago, and he said Gino's East is pretty good. A lot of people, in my previous questions, said Uno's was not really good.|||For breakfast check out my favorite place in the city...

***Nookies - 1746 N Wells in Old Town - http://www.nookiesrestaurants.net/oldtow鈥?/a> - Everything there is fresh, traditional, and delicious. The do little different things with breakfast like dip the french toast in corn flakes, then fry it.

    ***Then there's Lou Mitchell's - 565 W Jackson - http://www.loumitchellsrestaurant.com - which is Chicago's most famous diner.

If you're just downtown and looking for something cheap and quick for breakfast go find Beef %26amp; Brandy, Ada's, Mary's, or the Ohio House Coffee House.

    ______________

For Chicago Hotdogs, if you're downtown the best is

***Gold Coast - http://www.goldcoastdogs.net/ - the best one is at 159 N Wabash. I don't know whether or not the Popeye's that it shares it's space with adds to it's charm or not.

If you have access to a car the best dog in the city is at:

***Fat Johnnies between 7200 %26amp; 7300 S Western. It's on the south side in a not-so-great neighborhood so if you can do it, go when the sun is out, with a friend.

The 2nd best dog in the city is at:

***Hot Doug's on the city's north side just north of Belmont on California. You can take the Blue Line to Belmont %26amp; walk to California and head north...it takes about ten minutes, and there will probably be a line around the corner for the food, but it's worth it. Especially if it's Friday or Saturday and you can order the duck fat fries.

    _______________

Chicago isn't a big sushi town, but you can find a few good places. If you want to avoid the flashy downtown places like Sushi Samba Rio, or Japonais, check out...

***Sushi-O-Sushi - 345 W Armitage - which is a tiny little sushi place with about ten seats in Lincoln Park, or

***Matsuya's - 3469 N Clark St - It's another little hole in the wall in Wrigleyville, very convenient because it's so close to the Red Line. It's a good stop before a Cubs game if you don't want bar food before the game.

***Kamehachi - I think it's Chicago's oldest sushi place and there are a bunch all over the city. It's a safe place if you want something traditional and good.

    _______________

You'll get a bunch of suggestions for pizza that are all going to include Giordano's, Gino's East, Lou Malnati's, Uno's and maybe even Pizano's. Those are all good places for a traditional pie with the crust being the major difference.

I like traditional too, but if I want a real gourmet style pizza in Chicago that isn't embarassing like California Pizza Kitchen, I go to:

Chicago Pizza %26amp; Oven Grinders - http://www.chicagopizzaandovengrinder.co鈥?/a> - 2121 N Clark - The pizza's are basically deep dish, except they call them pot pies and they're cooked upside-down in a bowl and flipped at your table. The pizzas are wicked, and the building is one the oldest brownstones in the city and the assumed hideout for the St Valentine's Day Massacre.|||Girodano's and Lou Malnati's also have great pizza! For lunches, there is a fast food chain called Portillo's that has great dogs and Italian beef. Mexican there are several good choices in the Lincoln Park area. I couldn't help you with sushi. For American food that is pretty good and a little pricier (and better) than say a Chili's would be Grand Lux Cafe or Cheesecake Factory (if you don't have one where you are from). Ed Debevic's is also a great place for a burger. It is like a 50's diner with rude roller skating waiters. Have fun!|||'breakfast i would recommend IHOP, Denny's, and Hoagie(Cicero, Roosevelt).

lunch and dinner i recommend Ronny's steakhouse and for Mexican Los Dos Loredos, Chipotle and Qdoba Mexican Grill.

Hot Dogs-i recommend my #1 favorite Daves Red Hots at 3422 W. Roosevelt which is the best, Jimmys Red Hots at 4000 W. Grand, Smokehouse in north riverside park mall, Billy Goats at 430 N Michigan or Navy Pier.

deep dish pizza- Damenzos, Home Runn Inn, Papa John and the best hands down is Giordano's.

I not a big fan of raw food so i don't have any places recommend for sushi i do apologize for that. I hope everything else helps and hope you have a good time.|||Lou Mal------ Whatever is VERY good for pizza. They aren't too expensive either.

You know what would be very cool? Go to the Signature room an the 95th floor of the Handcock for lunch. Before you think it's too expensive, they have a weekday and I think Sat special where luch is about $16 for the full buffet. It is very casual, so don't worry about fressing up. They won't take a reservation, so get there when it starts (11:00 or so) to be sure ot get a table by the window. VERY nice and a place that is different. Check it out online.|||you won't find 5 chicagoans who agree on where to get the best deep dish, but i say giordano's is absolutely the place to be.

    http://www.menuism.com/restaurants/cVIhP鈥?/a>

for brunch, how about newport bar %26amp; grill?

http://www.menuism.com/restaurants/ctY_6鈥?/a>|||For breakfast, I would recommend Le Peep. They serve lunch too, but their breakfasts are great!

    http://www.lepeep.com/

For lunch, you have to try Portillo's. They have the best Italina beef sandwiches in Chicago. Also, really good hotdogs, cheeseburgers and chopped salad.

    http://www.portillos.com/

For the best deep dish pizza, my choice is Lou Malnati's 'Lou's Special'. They have a really delicious butter crust %26amp; their pizza tastes like no other.

    http://www.loumalnatis.com/

    For Mexican, try Lalo's.

http://www.lalos.com/|||i am not from chicago, but i go there frequently...ed debevics is a good hamburger joint...i am not sure if the name is right...but look it up online...it is like a classy old school restraunt where the waitresses are really rude and rollerskate...they wear poodle skirts...it is a blast!!! well have a killer time in chicago...and be careful!|||Hands down------------WEINER CIRCLE for hot dogs!!!!

Be ready for lots of stuff on it......yum- the celery salt is great and those rolls. I want one now!

Know of some good deals for these Chicago locations?

I'm planning a short trip to Chicago - only this Wednesday and Thursday (April 8th %26amp; 9th). We have some places we most likely want to go, and I was wondering if anyone knew of anywhere I could find coupons or discounts at any of these places. I found some, but I'm sure there might be more out there:

    - Legoland Discovery Center

    - Shedd Aquarium

    - Hancock Observatory

    - Navy Pier (I found $1 off Amazing Maze and 2-for-1 tickets to any attraction in Pier Park.)

    - Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. (I took a survey on their site and got a coupon for a free smoothie with purchase of an entree.)

    - Ed Debevic's (I found a special values card that gives me 10% off my order.)

    - Gino's East (Also on the special values card - free breadsticks with the order of a pizza.)

    - The Cheesecake Factory

    - Jamba Juice

    - Possibly another attraction near the Shedd Aquarium.

    - Some kind of piano lounge. (I haven't found one yet. That's another question I posted. =P.)

If anyone has any other deals or better deals, please let me know. I am really trying to save some money. Thanks for your help! =]Know of some good deals for these Chicago locations?
go to Timeout Chicago . com They have a Cheap Chicago section to click on.

They're not cheap but they have good musicians; the Redhead Piano Bar on Ontario and Jilly's on Rush. (Jilly's is like an old-fashioned Rat Pack kind of theme.)Know of some good deals for these Chicago locations?
Try and get your hands on an Entertainment book for Chicago. I think they have coupons for Legoland, Ed Debevics, and the Shedd.

Is true Chicago Pizza deepdish or thin crust?

On travel channel type shows they always refer to Chicago Pizza as deep dish like Lou Malnottis or Gino's East.

I personally have always thought of Chicago pizza as being think crust, paper thin crust that is. Traversos in my opinoin has true Chicago pizza, good ingredients and paper thin crust. I can't stand Lou Malonittis or Gino's East.

What do you think? Why do many people think pan pizza is Chicago Pizza? In my opinoin Lou Malnottis and Gino's East are like tourist Chicago PizzaIs true Chicago Pizza deepdish or thin crust?
true Chicago pizza is trully thin crust but not PAPER thin crust like you said. its pretty thin but not that thin.Is true Chicago Pizza deepdish or thin crust?
my understanding is that chicago's pizza is super-thick crust and are similar to a deep-dish pie, giving the name of 'pizza pie' and the thin crust comes from New York and those are very wide pieces to where you can fold them up and eat them.Is true Chicago Pizza deepdish or thin crust?
Deep dish, thick pizza which isn't as good as thin.

    Prom 2008???

I want to ask my girlfriend to Prom tonight. We have plans tonight for me to make her dinner (home-made mac n cheese) and watch the cubs game on tv. Is there any cute way I can incorporate anything?

    P.S.

Our anniversary is tomorrow too and we're going out to dinner at Gino's East (pizza resturant)

    suggestions pleaseProm 2008???
Why not ask her during the 7th inning stretch? Have her go grab something from another room and tape a sign to tv asking her to prom. When she walks back in you will have asked her on tv. I'd think this were cute.Prom 2008???
Since you've been going steady for a year, she probably already assumes you'll be going to the prom together.

Unless things have changed since I was in school, asking someone to the prom is fairly simple. It's not like you're proposing marriage, dear. :-)

    Going to Chicago this weekend....?

Hey Chicagoians... I'm coming over there this weekend (suburban Detroit) and I'm looking for cool places to hit/eat. My fiance` and her cousin are going to the Pink concert (blech) so my friend and I are going to the White Sox/Tigers game. Need some cool places to eat/drink/see.

I've heard Gino's East has the best Chicago style pizza, but what else is there?

10 Points to most helpful answerGoing to Chicago this weekend....?
Check out Rush St., right downtown, for rows of fun bars. For food,

Grand Luxe on Michigan Avenue, upstairs from Ann Taylor Loft, is great! Huge menu, great atmosphere and if you can get a window seat, great to people watch.

Want fun, crazy atmophere and good burgers (not to mention, a great drink menu)? Hamburger Mary's in Andersonville (on Clark) is a ton of fun! Drag Queens galore and they are a riot. And yes, Andersonville is IN the city of Chicago.

The best pizza, in my humble opinion, is at Geno's North on Granville. No relation whatsoever to the Gino's you hear about.

It's a small, neighborhood bar, so old school and cozy and their pizza? AMAZING! Unlike traditional Chicago deep-dish, their's is a cracker crust and it is simply delicious. This is coming from someone who doesn't even like pizza! Worth the cab/train ride up to Edgewater!

The area around the stadium is eh. On the other hand, if it was a Cubs game, I would suggest just staying in Wrigleyville because that is a booming, fun neighborhood. I would head north after the Sox game. The southside gets way to dicey...atleast for my tastes. Have fun!!!Going to Chicago this weekend....?
Check out the lakefront, downtown, and, at Roosevelt and Union ave,

the best Chicago style hot dog, or Maxwell Street Polish sausage.

If you've never had a Chicago style dog, or a Maxwell St. Polish, you

have to go there. Two places, Jim's, or the Express Grill. Both are

open 24/7, in case you are hungry after getting a little inebriated.

This is only a few miles north of US Cellular.Going to Chicago this weekend....?

Here are the things we would like to see: Grant park- the fountain, miracle mile, that bean in Milliennium park, Sears tower, Lincoln park, Lincoln park zoo, Navy Pier, John Hancock center, Gino's east, Billy goat tavern, the Cubby Bear (we're also going to an afternoon cubs game) the United Center (we're going to a hockey game)and White castle burger. We were thinking of taking the trolley tour our first day there to get situated with where things are located at. We are staying right in the middle of downtown and won't have a car, so we're not sure the best way to get around, we figured mostly walking. is that doable? What landmarks and tourist sites are near eachother?
You best bet to see a bunch of tourist attractions/stops would be to start at the far north end of Michigan Ave., near the Oak Street beach. From there you can walk south and see the John Hancock Building (go up to the Signature Lounge and have a drink. The view is amazing). Keep walking south and hit Water Tower Place (an indoor mall), the actual Water Tower (the only building left in that area of the city after the great Chicago fire.. it's still standing), Niketown and the Tribune Building. Near the Tribune Building are stairs that go down to Lower Wacker Drive, which is where the original Billy Goat Tavern is located (ask someone). From there, you can walk east to Navy Pier, a very touristy place but sort of fun.

If you go back and continue walking south on Michigan ave., you'll hit the Chicago River. Depending on when you get here, you can ride one of the sightseeing tour boats (there are also tour boats at Navy Pier). Come back up to Michigan ave, keep walking south and you'll hit Millennium Park (which is part of Grant Park), where the Bean is located. There's also an outdoor bar there too and depending on the weather it's a nice place to have a drink, eat, etc. Keep walking south on Michigan Ave. some more and you'll run into the Art Institute of Chicago. Finally, from the Art Institute, walk west to Adams and Wabash and look for Miller's Pub, a true Chicago bar. They serve food there and get pretty busy with the afterwork crowd.

A lot of the other place you mention are kind of spread out so it's not as easy to get to as simply walking south on Michigan ave. The United Center is on the west side of the city, the Sears Tower is in the west loop area, Buckingham Fountain is near the South Loop area, Lincoln Park is in Lincoln Park on the north side, the Cubby Bear is further north and across the street from Wrigley Field and White Castles are kind of spread out (I'm sure White Castle has a website that lists Chicago locations). So like I said, none of the other places are near each other. You'll have to travel a bit to get to each of them, probably on a bus. It's doable but takes some planning. If i were going I would group all of the things on the north side together as one trip (zoo, Cubby Bear), then make a trip to see the Fountain and Sears Tower.

Oh, and skip White Castle. Not worth it no matter where it's located. Trust me, you'll be disappointed. Most of them are hangout for derelects, which is why most people use the drive thru

Below is a link to a map that shows a lot of the attractions on Michigan ave. What landmarks and tourist sites are near eachother?
Staying in downtown Chicago is perfect for what you want to do. Check out transitchicago.com for "l" and bus schedule/routes. There is also a trip planner feature (which includes popular destinations). It is only $2 per ride (you can also purchase day/week pass which will allow unlimited rides during that time period). Don't bring a car it is extremely expensive to park downtown overnight and would be much cheaper to take a cab.

    Try the chicago google map.

The Hancock building is near the watertower at the north end of Michigan Ave (miracle mile). Grant Park contains the the buckingham fountain, millennium park, and the bean. Take the red line "l" to wrigley stadium. Sears is near Jackson/Wacker. United Center - take a bus/cab.

Have fun. Chicago tends to be friendly so ask for anyone who doesn't appear to be in a rush for directions/help.What landmarks and tourist sites are near eachother?
You won't need a car..parking fees will shock you. You have a partial list already. The John Hancock Bldg. and Water Tower are both on Michigan Blvd (magnificent mile) and close. Also close to each other are the Field Museum and Shedd Aquarium, with the Adler Planetarium and Soldier Field nearby. Millenium Park with the Bean, The Art Institute, and Buckingham fountain are in Grant Park.

The trolley connects all these and many more...no need for a cab.

I've been there too! And you're right. It tastes nasty.

I live kind of near the ice cream shop that made the very first frozen banana. I go there a lot, but I didn't know it was famous until I saw it on the Food Channel.
I've been to La Bella Italia in Port Angeles, Washington. It's where Bella and Edward eat for dinner in the Twilight book. I went there in 2007, then when I read the book in 2008 and saw the name of the restaurant and where it was supposed to be located in, I realized that was the place we had gone to. lol.Have you ever been to a famous restauraunt?
There are no famous restaurants in my country

Two brothers, sports fans, like cool men's clothes (straight), billiards, beer. Where should we go in Chicago?

Will be in Chicago in mid October for the Vikings/Bears game for 4-5 days and also going to the Stars/Blackhawks game. As for mens clothes, what are some good stores there that I can't get in many other cities. We want to visit some good pubs/bars with great beer and food. We've heard a lot about Gino's East, so that is on our list. Where should we go before the hockey game at the United Center? Two brothers, sports fans, like cool men's clothes (straight), billiards, beer. Where should we go in Chicago?
You might try Guise, at 2217 N. Halsted. Great men's store, if a bit expensive, and the surrounding area, up and down Halsted, is filled with terrific bars and restaurants. You might try Tilli's at 1952 N. Halsted, not far away, which is a nice singles spot with excellent food and a decent beer selection.

There isn't that much around the United Center in and of itself, although the Tasting Room at Randolph Wine Centers isn't half bad, nor is La Luce, an Italian restaurant nearby. And yes, I definitely recommend Gino's East or Giordano's.

Another great beer place that specializes only in beers is the Map Room, at 1949 N. Hoyne, and again, the surrounding neighborhood, up and down Damen, is a great stroll. There's mostly women's boutiques there, but there are a few men's stores as well. Two brothers, sports fans, like cool men's clothes (straight), billiards, beer. Where should we go in Chicago?

Hey,next week I will be in the Chicago area for a couple of days, and was wondering a good place that anyone that has been to Chicago or that lives in Chicago would recommend as a place I must not pass on. I heard that Gino's East makes some great Deep Dish Pizza and that Alinea is a really nice place to eat as well. Any more suggestions?Good Restaurants in Chicago?

    Good Restaurants in Chicago?
For italian other than pizza,The Italian village

    or for romance Gejas

Or for cool, look who is eating underground in the city, fast food, Billy Goat Tavern on Lower Michigan Ave.(Cheeze burgr cheese burger, pepsi no coke)

Or for the generations of chicagoins have eaten there german food, sandwitches and beer-The Bergoff.

In response to an article on MSN about the best pizza in the U.S.?

What and where do you believe is the best pizza, and why. I am from the midwest and I am sorry to say Uno's, and Gino's East is not the best pizza in Chicago! In response to an article on MSN about the best pizza in the U.S.?
You could not be more correct. Big chains do not know how to make great pizza, good maybe, but not great. I found the little places in Chicago make the best pizza, probably the same with NYC.

I now live in Baltimore and can't find good pizza to save my life! Their idea of good pizza here is Papa Johns or Pizza Hut :(
giordono's is amazing. yes it's a chain..........but it's still got some good quality pizza that you can't get anywhere else. in the city.....i would say pizza-ria's slices are the best!!!!In response to an article on MSN about the best pizza in the U.S.?
Actually, I always preferred Nancy's Pizza in Chicago (not the chain one in the suburbs) But I certainly wouldn't turn down Gino's East or Pizzeria Uno (the REAL one downtown, not the crappy chain one)

I can see how some people would like New York style, but to me, the soft crust/heavy on the grease combo never worked for me. If I'm gonna have that much grease on the pizza, I need the crust to be hard.

Charlotte is just as bad as Baltimore when it comes to pizza. Thank God you can order Lou Malnati's via FedEx. It's not my favorite Chicago Pizza, but I'll take it over any crap they insultingly call pizza in this town. If I'm truly desperate, a Home Run Inn Pizza can help. Anything to avoid Pizza Smut, I mean Hut, and Domino's.
Go to Little Italy, New York.In response to an article on MSN about the best pizza in the U.S.?
Out of the chains I prefer in this order: Gino's East, Lou Malnati's, Uno's, then Giordano's.

I'd say my favorite pizza in the Universe is Aurelio's in Homewood, IL. There are locations all over the place, and it's a thin crust, but man their pizza kills. In Chicago I really like Pizano's (another Malnati family place) and Chicago Pizza %26amp; Oven Grinder Co.
In my opinion, the best pizza in Chicago is the Lou's Special, with butter crust, from Lou Malnati's!
I haven't read the article you are talking about, but in my opinion the chain pizza places are garbage. The best pizzas come from local shops.
my 2 favs in chicago are lou malnatis, and chicago pizza and oven grinder.

  • What do I do? It involves celiac disease.?

I鈥檓 going to this thing at Gino鈥檚 East Pizza where you meet the Chicago Wolves players. They come as waiters and take your order. Since I have celiac disease and can鈥檛 eat wheat, what do I do? A player will be asking for what I want and it will be weird. I have a granola bar to eat there but I am mainly there for autographs. So what do I say when the player takes my order? What do I do? It involves celiac disease.?
Hey. First, cool that u get to meet the players!! If your there for autographs, just order a soda and maybe something for a friend (if u dont want to feel weird only ordering salad or something, see if your friend will let u order wings or something for him.)

So order a salad for you (or if u know they have GF wings or anything) plus whatever your friend wants, enjoy and get your autograph!!

    Cool!

If u really wanted to u could ask them to heat up your own GF pizza, but again, u know that deals with cross contamination and is a big pain!
You can simply order a drink and receive the autographs you seek.

I had a medical issue a few years ago and they initially diagnosed me with Celiacs. It was very upsetting seeing as all my favorite foods were being eliminated from my diet.

You will do fine. Eat before hand and order something to drink or review the menu and there might be a salad or something you are allowed to eat that you can order.

Have fun! What do I do? It involves celiac disease.?
you know what you have... right ?

you know what you got to do .. right ?

    if you answer yes..

    next step..

order yourself.. (if someone feels bad.. what the heck.. its your body.. its your life)

    good luck
Order a salad and a drink. Or if you feel out of place, order a slice of pizza and then don't eat it. Check the granola bar, some have gluten hidden in themWhat do I do? It involves celiac disease.?
You can either order pizza and just eat the toppings. Or you can check the menu. Do they offer wings? Appetizers? Remember if you order an appetizer that comes with bread or chips, just ask for extra celery and use the celery for dipping. There is always the salad option as well.
you can order a breadless pizza, which is sauce, toppings and cheese.as a celiac myself i love breadless pizza.

    Chicago PIZZA.....?

is it like eating a piece of pie? Or can u eat it

with your fingers? The pictures I have seen of Lou Manalti's and gino east makes it look like it has so many layers a person would need to use a FORKChicago PIZZA.....?
I would not say it is liking eating a slice of pie. I suggest that you eat the pizza with your hands the first time and fork and knife thereafter. I hope you enjoy.
We have the best pizza ever. You never git tired of it. AUHHHH It's a( Homer Simpson) type thing when it Com's to Chicago pizza.Chicago PIZZA.....?
You definitely have to eat with a fork at Gino East. It's sooooooo goood!
Yes, you can eat it without one but you can eat it with a fork too! Its yummy!Chicago PIZZA.....?
Chicago pizza rocks! You can eat it with a fork if you choose; but it's best to just grab napkins and eat with your hands.
If you go to Gino's or Connie's or Giordano's, plan to have the deep dish style that sometimes requires a fork. It's still pretty good.

Lou Malnati's, Chicago's Pizza, and just about any little cheesy pizza stand you pass will have the thin sliced, fold-in-half-if-you-want-to type pizza that does not require a fork.
The same rules apply as with eating lobster or shrimp. If the food isn't all over the table and your hands are clean, put on a bib and have a good time with your friends. If you were at home would you pick up the slice.
it's not like eating a pie... any way where did you get the pic from???
For good Chicago stuffed pizza, you need a fork. It is thicker than one inch. Giordanos is my favorite.

Living in IN and commuting and working in Chicago... what is it like?

I have my second round of interviews coming up with a company in Chicago. I live in Merrillville, IN which is considered part of the greater Chicagoland region. If I get the job, I plan to probably take the South Shore to Millenium Station, and then the #20 (Madison, I think) bus over to where I work. I was looking into the CTA trains, but there aren't any stops close to where I would be (near corner of W. Washinton Blvd. and N. Sangamon St.). Is this area considered the Loop? Or the west loop? I'm still learning more about the regions. What is crime like? Cost? What is it like commuting daily to Chicago? I've ridden the South Shore before, but only in the afternoon and evening. I've heard it can be very busy during rush hours. How is the bus system? Tips, suggestions, encouragements? I'm pretty excited. I find Chicago a bit intimidating but I really like the city and the few times I've been there over the past few years have been good. Plus, you can't beat Gino's East or Giordano's!Living in IN and commuting and working in Chicago... what is it like?
I have never done it myself, but my co-worker passed up a job in chicago and he lives in merriville. He told me about his caculations and that it was not worth it for him to do. Yes, the money is great, but how much do you value your time not getting paid just to get to your job?

I'd say that the commute will easily add at least an hour each way for you. that makes an 8hour work day 10...

The south shore is very busy during the 5 and 6 o'clock hours in the evening leaving chicago. I've gone to numerous cubs games and leaving Millenium station, the trains were always quite full.

Is it feasible $ wise? what is it going to cost you for 5 round trip train rides and 5 round trip bus rides a week? what is the pay increase going to be over that which you will get closer to home?

I am going to be looking into a job in chicago in the future, but the pay will have to be outstanding for me to commute and out of this world for me to move to the surrburbs of chicago.

Good luck with whatever you decide
