1992 Audi 100CS idling rich and speedometer not working, could both be caused by vehicle speed sensor?

Ok, it's a 1992 Audi 100CS, V6 5speed. The problem i'm having is that the speedometer isn't working and the car idles rich, you can smell the gas coming from the exhaust pipe. When i accelerate the car drives fine, the problem is only when the car is in idle. After driving on the freeway for a little while the car throws a code for the vehicle speed sensor, NOW, i was told that if i replaced the VSS that it would fix both the speedometer problem and the rich idle problem, would that work?1992 Audi 100CS idling rich and speedometer not working, could both be caused by vehicle speed sensor? No. The VSS and rich idle are two totally separate issues on your car. The amount of fuel added K-Jetronic system (early form of fuel injection). The VSS is not an input to the K-Jet.
