I am thinking about buyiing one and I am wondering how much it will cost to repair and maintain this high-performance engine. I have been known to be rough on engines.How much should I expect to pay to repair the engine on a 1991 850i BMW V12 engine with 131K miles?I have the same engine in my 1989 750il and have to admit I am pretty hard on vehicles myself. They can be reliable and troublefree for the most part but when repairs are needed they are EXPENSIVE. Make sure to get any maintenance records. 850i motor rebuild will run about 6,000 -8500 dollars.repalcing engine with new will run about 13,000 dollars.
