Replaced the battery and lost all pre-sets, clock, radio, seats, etc. Reset all of them and they stay fine except the clock. It has to be reset everyting the car is turned off.2003 BMW 325 clock has to be reset everythime the car is started. How can I fix this? One of my buds has a '99 540i with the same problem. He took it to his mechanic who said that it's either an electrical short (which is difficult to fix and even worse to diagnose), or just a simple fuse issue.
For your car, I would check the fuses that have anything to do with the control panel (numbers 7, 9, 10, 34, 41, and 43). Remove the fuses and make sure that they are all still intact and replace any with a BMW replacement fuse.
If this doesn't work, go to your mechanic (or find a ruputable one here http://www.bimrs.org/2008MapPage.html) and have an electronic diagnostic test run. You should be able to pinpoint the faulty wire or connection.2003 BMW 325 clock has to be reset everythime the car is started. How can I fix this? You need to check the battery voltage as the vehicle is initially cranked - if it drops below 10 volts, odds are the clock is losing it's memory. This could be caused by a battery that isn't up to the task or a starter that's drawing excessive current.
