I can figure out how to get into see the message, but can't reset it. ThanksHow do you reset the"worn breaks message" on the idrive on a 2004 525i BMW?BMW uses a sensor (two actually) on their cars to determine when the pads need changing. This sensor, simply put, is a electrical connection that breaks apart when the pad falls below 3mm. This sensor will need to be replaced. After the sensor is replaced, the error light will go away. There are two sensors. One on the drivers side front brake assembly and one on the passenger side rear brake assembly. Whichever one you just replaced the pads on is the sensor you need to replace. Judging by the age of your car, its probably the front one.
