There are to silver roll bars in my car and they look like they can slide up to be taller. how do u do tht?How to extend the roll bars in a 1995 BMW 325i convertible? It's a head protection system. in the case of your convertible rolling over, these bars are spring loaded and they eject and can support the entire weight of the chassis. This prevents occupants from being decapitated when the car flips over. If you want to activate them, you need a dealership-level scanner to go into the roll-over protection system and trigger their release. There's a special tool in your tool kit to reset them. For the most part, stay away from them. They're spring loaded and will hurt you if your are in it's travel path.
EDIT: You can also flip the car over if you don't have a scanner. I've heard complaints of people hitting potholes too hard and they fly.How to extend the roll bars in a 1995 BMW 325i convertible? They go up when the sensors in the car think it's going to roll over
