How to you check the transmission fluid level in an 2003 Audi A62.7t?

I have heard that you cannot do it yourself, that you have to have it hooked up to an audi diagnostic computer just to do this. Sounds like someone is trying to take your money. Open up the hood and you should see a dipstick that is red. Similar to the oil dipstick but like i said it has a red handle. Pull that out and at the bottom will be a gauge that shows the trans fluid level.
