I heard that the early 2003 model BMW 3 series Turbo diesel cars had Turbo problems? is it true?

please give me more details about this problem coz am planning to buy a 2003 model 320d. is it a gud idea to buy that one?I heard that the early 2003 model BMW 3 series Turbo diesel cars had Turbo problems? is it true?Yes, there were reports of failures on pre-July 2003 models. BMW did make an engine change in 2003, so it looks like they knew about the problem.

Don't let it put you off any E46 or E90 BMW as nothing else has the same torque. If you do buy a pre-2003 model, factor in £1500ish for a new turbo or get an after-market warranty covering the turbo. The slow depreciation will more than make up for the higher running costs.I heard that the early 2003 model BMW 3 series Turbo diesel cars had Turbo problems? is it true?Yes turbo's were prone to premature failure on this engine, either seizing or oil seal failure allowing oil to to enter the inlet manifold which can act as a fuel and cause the engine to seize due to over revving or loss of oil.
