What is the maintenance like after the warranty period is over for a BMW Z4? Is the car pretty reliable over?

Im getting a used 07 z4 3.0i. The warranty expires in about a year and a half. I would like to know what the maintenance is like as soon as that expires. Whats it cost every year to maintain? What is the maintenance like after the warranty period is over for a BMW Z4? Is the car pretty reliable over?standard lifetime maintenance for a luxery/performance vehicle is an average of $1,500 a year over the life of the car. It all depends on how often you drive it and how many things go wrong. Since your car is still fairly new, I'd expect it not to run quite so high on the maintenance for awhile. Just be sure to spend to have all the scheduled mx done.

A good mechanic will keep the car running perfectly. A bad mechanic will screw more things up and cost you more. Example: I spent $8,000 over three years maintaining my Z3 (it's older than yours though) before figuring out that the dealership where I live was basically screwing me and finding a german performance car specialist who charges the same but knows what he's doing.

EDIT: I should note that the lifetime quoted above is assuming you're keeping the car for 15-20 years. If you ditch it before 100K miles your maintenance cost will likely stay low through the whole time you own it.What is the maintenance like after the warranty period is over for a BMW Z4? I'd not worry about it much bec of the year but I'd try and see if by chance any type of further warranty could be purchased by you from the dealership.

I've a few friends that own that type of vehicle and just like any vehicle they don't maintain themselves so if you keep it well kept up , changing the oil I recommend in half the factory recommended mileage indicated.

Simple things like making sure the tires have the right air pressure in them , the wheels are fully balanced at least once a yr , all 4 wheels are aligned at least once a year.Trying to keep the engine and transmission running as cool as possible within proper factory recommended specs.Making sure the brakes are up to par also helps on gas mileage and saves wear and tear on other parts too.

Even going for a hwy drive for 15 mins or so once a wk believe it or not helps the battery , starter , alternator and over all charging system too.

Reading the owners manual is one thing that most ppl don't do and it's very helpful to do so , also even buying a service manual helps , especially if you truly want to get to know your vehicle well.

Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way one thing I really like about those vehicles is the fact that the codes that are error codes etc are more accurate and much more reliable too. What is the maintenance like after the warranty period is over for a BMW Z4? Is the car pretty reliable over? The best thing to do is to purchase the extended warranty from the dealer BEFORE the warranty expires. That way the plan includes maintenance and all of that. If you purchase it AFTER the warranty expired, then the warranty will probably be from a third party and will cover only defects, and not maintenance. What is the maintenance like after the warranty period is over for a BMW Z4? Service I every 15K miles and service II every 30K miles. Dealer will charge you $500-700 for SVCI and $1000-1500 for SVCII depending on where you live. Both can be done for 1/4-1/3 that price at a good independent shop. Try to find one that has BMW certified techs (current knowledge) and the right equipment. You can check out BMW forums for references to the right shop in your area (Try Zpost.com or Bimmerforums.com) Other than that, brake pads and rotors cost $800 per axle at the dealer (10-30K miles, depending on ur driving habits), or $200-300 if you buy the parts and have it done elsewhere. And add to that some regular maintenance items.

The engine/tranny are quite reliable so you won't have major problems. Just be ready to find DIY guides and to do simple stuff yourself if something goes wrong.

If you want more peace of mind, buy a used one from a dealer. BMW extends the 4yr/50K warranty to 6yr/100K for CPO cars (used cars sold by dealers) but that won't include free maintenance like the first 4yrs/50K.What is the maintenance like after the warranty period is over for a BMW Z4? Is the car pretty reliable over?for us around in my area, its about 2-400 dollars for the inspections, 240 for oil changes, 1000+ est for brake jobs. Its really not that much since the inspections are every 30k miles, and the oil changes are every 15k miles, and they use better stuff than a toyota or honda. What is the maintenance like after the warranty period is over for a BMW Z4? The best thing you can possibly do is to purchase the extended maintenance plan from your dealer. This is the best because you will receive all bmw oem parts along with service from technicians that have invested countless hours training on bmw's.
Well... I have a 3.0i from 2004. The "thing" only needs gas and oil. Not a single malfunction so far.

Love the car and, apparently, the car loves me back.
