I just bought a 325i, but i dont know what the e36 or e34 stand for? is it something different entirely? How could I check (if i do have one of those e's) how can i check what E it is?Whats the difference between a bmw 325i and a 325i e36, or is it the same thing? The "E" designation in BMWspeak stands for "Entwicklung", the German word for "development". It denotes the body style and has nothing to do with the engine. For example, the 5 series could be an E28, E39, E60, etc. Similarly, Mercedes Benz uses "W" codes, which also denote the body style used in the production of their cars. As the body styles changed, (but not the model number), BMW and Mercedes Benz gave them new "E" or "W" codes.Whats the difference between a bmw 325i and a 325i e36, or is it the same thing?http://silverstone.fortunecity.com/merce…Whats the difference between a bmw 325i and a 325i e36, or is it the same thing?Between roughly 91-99 is an E36, before is an E30 and after is an E46.Whats the difference between a bmw 325i and a 325i e36, or is it the same thing?
E36 stands for the engine in that car.. since the same engine may be used in different models; engines by themselves have their own "code".
Type bmwforums into a search engine. Lots of good info on your new car there.
